ABC Renews Revenge, Once Upon a Time, Castle, and 7 More Shows

If you're an ABC series, you may have just received some good news! In advance of its upfront presentation on Tuesday, the network made the rounds today and called producers of seven shows to say, "Congratulations, you've been renewed."

Renewals went out to Grey's Anatomy, Castle, Revenge, Once Upon a Time, The Middle, Suburgatory, and Modern Family early this evening, capping a whirlwind day of television news. [UPDATE] ABC also renewed Dancing With the Stars, The Bachelor, and Shark Tank shortly after the scripted shows got their news. Shark Tank received a super-sized 22-episode order.

None of the renewals come as that much of a surprise. All the veteran shows were locks for renewals, and the three new shows have performed well enough with critics and fans to be considered potential long-term additions to ABC's lineup.

But what's missing? Well, Missing, for one. But also GCB, The River, Private Practice, Scandal, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, Happy Endings, Last Man Standing, Pan Am (which was never "officially" canceled), and Body of Proof.

Just because the renewals weren't announced today doesn't mean the shows are doomed. But if I had to guess, I wouldn't hold my breath for GCB, The River, or Body of Proof, as those are almost certainly goners. As for the others, it all depends on what ABC thinks of its pilots. I could also see both Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B---- surviving somehow (shortened seasons?).

Do you think ABC will keep any of the shows it didn't renew today?

I would love to meet the dumbassssssssss in charge of deciding what shows to cancel and what to keep......GCB is one of the best.......try different times or days......this show is way too funny to give up on.

ABC's Wed night is unwatchable. Missing should have been renewed before any of the Wed shows.Very glad Castle, Revenge, Once Upon A Time made it. Even GCB was better than Wed nights crap, thank God for a solid CBS Wed.

Suburgatory! I was so scared they'd cancel that. Generally I'm not that fond of comedies, but I really enjoy that one.

ABC cancels Missing, but keeps Suburgatory?? Seriously? !! Suburgatory is idiotic sophomoric crap TV...

I don't understand the networks!!! It seems as though they cancel all of the good tv shows and keep the crap shows. Example: ABC cancels Missing, but keeps Shark Tank! Seriously!!!! Missing is one of the best shows on TV right now. I hope they change their mind or another network picks it up! I am so tired of networks cancelling good shows, only to add yet another stupid reality show. There are already far too many reality shows on tv!!!

So sad GCB is going. Dancing with the stars and the bachelor made it?! I want a little imagination in my tv not the reality of drama queens I see in public EVERY day! Seriously, has bachelor had ANY marriages?

The River was good, not perfect but it was different and it had potential. Hopefully Netflix will pick it up, otherwise I guess there's no more magic out there :( Pretty gutted about all these shows being cancelled, at least Fringe was renewed, that was the big one.
