American Idol, Modern Family, and South Park
What to watch on Wednesday, May 25.
We're entering strange territory, everyone. All the normal shows are going on hiatus (some of them forever!) and new, weird ones are starting to show up in their places. It's like if your dad excused himself from the dinner table and Ronald McDonald came in and sat in his chair. Ugh, summer programming! Anyway, you may as well enjoy the last gasps of some of the stragglers:
SEASON 10 FINALE, 8pm, Fox
If anyone tries to tell you that being a teenager is edgy, fun, and exciting, all you have to do is point out THIS pair. Who will win tonight, Scotty or Lauren? Answer: Zzzzzzz. Haha j/k they are very fun and interesting. Haha j/k again.
SEASON 2 FINALE, 9pm, ABC
In tonight's season finale, Jay's friends and family ignore his request for a simple birthday fishing trip and instead decide to throw him a huge party; Phil encounters his college nemesis at the mall; and Cameron runs into issues with Jay's birthday cake. Fortunately, camera crews catch EVERYTHING from multiple angles! #mockumentaryfatigue
SEASON 1 FINALE, 10:30pm, ABC
This solid first season began at a wedding, and at a wedding it will end. When a slacker friend invites the gang to his wedding, the bride-to-be frets that Alex's presence might jinx her marriage. It's unclear whether we'll get another Travis Van Winkle-on-rollerblades cameo, but fingers crossed! (Oh wait, am I the only one who knows who that is?)
SERIES FINALE, 10pm, CBS
Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior
In a rare miss, CBS failed to create a successful new member of the Criminal Minds franchise, but many will fondly remember this one as a showcase for Janeane Garofalo, serious thespian (i.e. she was surprisingly great!). Anyway, in tonight's final episode, the team will search for a serial killer who shoots people in crowded areas. Man, serial killers can be such jerks sometimes.
10pm, Comedy Central
Tonight Cartman fills a vital need for his community when he starts a new organization: the Crack Baby Athletic Association.
My favorite part of this highly watchable series is the tension each episode wrings out of whether or not a couponer will have to pay an extra couple bucks at the register. Those aren't very high stakes! Tonight we'll follow Amber and Amanda, the latter of whom will try to beat her own grandmother's couponing record. Profitable nerdiness just runs in their family, I guess.
