Anna Nicole Smith photos raise eyebrows

The Tribune of Nassau has run front-page photos showing former Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith in bed with Bahamian Immigration Minister Shane Gibson. Smith died Thursday in Florida at age 39.

The newspaper published two photographs, taken last year, showing Smith and Gibson lying in bed fully clothed, embracing one another. Last year Gibson came under fire when he allegedly gave special treatment to Smith and her application for Bahamian residency.

Smith's lawyer and companion, Howard K. Stern, said the images, along with other items, were stolen from Smith’s place of residence on the island. A Stern spokesman said today that police have recovered the stolen property and that anyone who disseminated the photos would face legal action.

Stern is attempting to keep Smith’s mother, Vergie Arthur, from seeing Smith’s daughter, Dannielynn.

''She just despised that woman,'' Stern said on Entertainment Tonight. “As long as I have one breath left in my body, that woman will not see Dannielynn.''

Last week, Arthur suggested to ABC's Good Morning America that Stern may be somehow responsible for Smith’s death, along with the death of Smith’s 20-year-old son Daniel, who died suddenly in the Bahamas last September.

''I do have a problem with her being with Howard Stern,'' Arthur said. “He was there when both of them died. Now I only have a granddaughter left...and I'm afraid for her.''

Dannielynn’s paternity is now being claimed by three men: Stern, former boyfriend Larry Birkhead, and the 59-year-old husband of 90-year-old Zsa Zsa Gabor, Prince Frederic von Anhalt.

The New York Daily News reports that Smith may have gotten pregnant using frozen sperm from her late husband, the 90-year-old oil baron J. Howard Marshall II.

I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT HOWARD SHOULD BE UNDER INVESTIGATION. I KNOW ANNA SAID ALOT OF BAD THINGS ABOUT HER MOTHER AND FAMILY BUT I KNOW FIRST HAND THAT WHEN YOUR CHILD IS ON DRUGS THEY WILL AND DO SAY BAD THINGS TO AND ABOUT THIER PARENTS. I DO BELIEVE THAT ANNA WAS ESTRANGED FROM HER FAMILY BUT THAT IS HOW PEOPLE ON DRUGS DO , THEY STAY AWAY FROM ANYONE THAT TRY'S TO TALK THEM INTO GETTING HELP, I'VE BEEN IN ANNA'S MOTHER'S SHOES , AND IT IS A LONG HARD ROAD. ANNA WAS ONLY 39 YRS AND HER SON WAS JUST 20YRS OLD, THAT IS YOUNG FOR BOTH OF THEM, AND I REALLY THINK THAT IT IS STRANGE THAT THEY DIED AFTER ISOLATED FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS (EXCEPT FOR HOWARD). AND I REALLY DON'T THINK THAT ANNA INTENDED ON LEAVING HER NEW BABY GIRL , WHICH I DON'T BELIEVE IS HOWARDS, I BELEIVE SHE IS LARRY'S CHILD AND SHOULD NOT BE WITH HOWARD AT ALL.. I MEAN REALLY IT DON'T TAKE A BRAIN SURGEON TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON HERE....

NO ONE UNDERSTANDS THIS: they gave her an ice bath, plunged her in it..that not only can exaserbate pneumonia she already had, but it killed her...it made her heart stop...THE NURSE, WIFE OF THE BODYGUARD SAID SHE IS AN RN..REALLY? BS, SHE DIDN'T MOVE THE BODY TO THE FLOOR, EVEN MO, HER HUSBAND SAID "WHAT ARE YOU DOING" Neither of them called 911 immediately. They're all in it together...I don't like the mother, as Anna detested her, but I think she was killed inadvertently by Mo, that so called nurse (RN) check her out, she prob. nurses aide, claiming to be RN....bump on head..inadvertenly and not deliberate, but they KILLED ANNA...SO SAD. God rest her soul.

I'm so sad about the whole thing. She must have been deeply pained by Daniel's death. She hadn't changed her will since 2001: he's only been dead for less than 6 months. It's horrible how everyone just attacks Anna and has so many horrible things to say about her. None of you know her so who are you to judge. I believe that she did die of a deep state of depression (broken heart) and to add to that depression there is also the post partum thing. and by the way to the previous poster.. Howard has not denied a paternity test, in fact in the interview last night I saw with him he & Anna were about to get all the DNA questions answered but as you can see .. things changed. I say people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and we should let the poor woman rest in peace and stop judging. Jackie

Had it been anyone else there would have been a complete investigation. Clearly a horrendous crime has occured. If "it looks like a duck" The baby should be with Nicole's family "her Mother" The baby would be in danger if left with the person who was present when nicole's son died and the the baby's mother. Now she's gone.If Howard is the father, why is he fighting the paternity test. He doesn't even look like the baby.B.E.

I think she brought this on herself, this is the life she chose to live and the price she had to pay...and she paid dearly :(

I agree with the last post. She never would have been completely at peace and joyful with hers and Daniel's marriage plus the baby. We don't understand why these things happen. God has a plan for all of us and we may not like it or wonder why but eventually things are made clear to us. I do wish that now that she's gone, that all the news shows'd let her rest in peace.

I do believe Anna and Daniel are together again-in peace...

Why is it when a celebrity dies, this is all we hear and see? Why can't the person just be left alone with whatever dignity that had left and rest in peace. Anna was not the brightest, but she is entitled to some respect in death. Enough already.

    Dear Editor,

Thank you for your coverage of the Anna Nicole case.

I'm a lawyer in a British Commonwealth nation with laws similar to The Bahamas. I sincerely hope that the dual deaths are purely coincidental. However a compelling argument can be made of foul play. As I see it, if someone can claim to be Anna's husband and father of her only living child, that person may have direct personal claim to a large portion of her estate and would control any remainder held by the baby.
