CBS Cancels CSI: Miami, Unforgettable, A Gifted Man, Rob, NYC 22; Renews CSI: NY

Put on your sunglasses and dust off your Horatio impression before you finish reading this sentence, because CBS has just done a drive-by... on CSI: Miami. Yes, the network that's known for its procedurals has axed one of its veterans: The David Caruso-starring CSI spin-off will not live to see Season 11. Though Miami wasn't the lowest-rated series of the three in its franchise—that would be CSI: NY—it was more expensive to produce than its fellow spin-off. Both Miami and New York were on the bubble (Original Recipe CSI was renewed in March), so money is likely what made the final call. [UPDATE: CSI: NY has now officially been renewed.]

But CSI: Miami wasn't the only casualty at the "most-watched network" today. CBS also canceled freshmen series Unforgettable, A Gifted Man, Rob, and NYC 22. None of the cancellations were particularly surprising—though not all of them were guaranteed, as Unforgettable and Rob were both decent performers in the ratings. That said, A Gifted Man was flop by CBS standards, with only a 1.4 rating the adult demographic, and it's hard to believe anyone even knew NYC 22 was on the air.

A Gifted Man's demise was a bit more entertaining than CBS probably intended, however, thanks to series star/dreamboat Patrick Wilson posting about the cancellation on on Twitter:

Veeeery eeenteresting, no? In related news, CBS also picked up several pilots to series, including two multi-camera comedies and four dramas. We'll have more details on all of them soon.

CBS will officially announce its 2012-2013 lineup on Wednesday, May 16 during its Upfront presentation in New York.

Which of the five shows mentioned above will you miss most?

Seriously, this is how the world works today. While crappy talent-shows get to have 50 seasons. We, the real fans with brains, that do give a care about quality on the television have to suffer because the hypocritical basterds do not care about us, only about money. CSI Miami was a really great show, but like all good shows, it's cancelled. Which makes me very sad. And starting to realize that it's about time I throw away the tv, the subscription to watch tv and advice everyone to stop watching that crap all together. I will miss CSI miami.
