CBS Sets Summer Premiere Dates for Under the Dome, Unforgettable, and More

You've already planned your summer: Cram the kids into a rented bus and finally see the country's largest thermometer in Baker, California! Now it's CBS's turn. Television's barren season is rarely anything to get excited about, but CBS's summer has at least one intriguing entry that might cut into your months of catching up on old series.

The network is giving naval officers and crime-scene investigators a break and debuting an honest-to-goodness serialized science-fiction drama. This is kind of like your grandmother announcing plans to get her nipples pierced. But it is happening in the form of Under the Dome, a 13-part miniseries based on the Stephen King novel about a small town that gets cut off from the rest of the world when a huge see-through dome covers it up like the lid on a plate of fancy room service. Under the Dome gets the Monday 10pm slot starting June 24.

And that about does it for really interesting television for the network's summer. Big Brother's 15th edition will start earlier than past editions with a Wednesday, June 26 at 9pm premiere. It will air three times a week, adding Sundays and Tuesdays to its schedule. CBS is also giving the cooking show genre a go, debuting a still untitled baking competition that's based on the U.K.'s Great British Bake Off on Wednesday, May 29 at 8pm. And finally, the revived procedural Unforgettable (no, you aren't going crazy, the procedural was canceled and then miraculously saved) gets a second chance on Sundays, starting July 28 at 9pm.

Here's a quick recap for those who prefer the above information in chart form:

    I could be wrong, but was the last sci-fi show CBS tried was Threshold? If there was another, someone remind me of it please. {And, OBTW, I really dug Threshold with Tyrion(GoT) and Data(ST:TNG) and Sally Jupiter(Watchmen) and Dillon(Aliens3).}

    Unforgettable, sadly, isn't.

    Unforgettable was the first show of that season that I quit on after just one episode. This is the same Unforgettable that was almost called The Rememberer, right?

    Kind of glad that Under The Dome will only have one season.
    It is a good idea for a show but I suspect it would get a bit dull if it lasted for many seasons.

    Agreed, the story has a definite beginning, middle, and end. No spoilers but it couldn't go more than one season.

    Excited to see Unforgettable back. But, I'm sad that they took Kevin Rankin off the show. He was my favourite character.
