CBS Throws Pickup Party and Everyone is Invited

... CBS has sheathed its cancellation axe and instead is brandishing the Full-Season Pickup Hammer of Love +3 and swinging it around its offices like a Chaotic Neutral Network Barbarian. All five of its new shows are being given full-season pickups, so expect more Hawaii Five-0, Mike & Molly, Blue Bloods, $#*! My Dad Says, and The Defenders. And this is no NBC situation where they need to keep them. All five of the shows actually warranted pickup with average audiences of at least 11.3 million viewers. And save for Blue Bloods' 2.2 rating among adults, they're all raking in at least a 3.5. In short, CBS is smokin' the other networks. [The Live Feed]

... Conan O'Brien has announced the line up of guests for the premiere week of his new talk show Conan. The first guest is still TBD, as the redhead is running an online poll to help determine who will break the show in. Here's the first week schedule:
Monday Nov. 8: First Guest Poll winner, Seth Rogen, Jack White
Tuesday Nov. 9: Tom Hanks, Jack McBrayer, and Soundgarden (is it 1996?)
Wednesday Nov. 10: Jon Hamm, Charlyne Yi, and Fistful of Mercy (who and what?)
Thursday Nov 11: Michael Cera, Julie Bowen, and Jon Dore
My first thoughts on this lineup: WOW! Someone who isn't from Canada knows who Jon Dore is? I love that guy! [The Live Feed]

... Patton Oswalt, Mr. Ratatouille, is working with Fox on a comedy where he would star as a man who re-enters the dating world after his wife of two decades leaves him. [NY Mag]

... Kelly Ripa, Ms. Live with Regis and Kelly, is working with ABC on Port Love, a comedy about a TV show that follows the off-camera drama of its cast and crew. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Michelle Trachtenberg, Ms. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is working with Josh Schwartz on a drama about a young crime profiler with a dark past. [Deadline Hollywood]

... L.J. Smith, Ms. The Vampire Diaries, is working with The CW to adapt another one of her book series, The Secret Circle, into another show. [MTV]

... TBS is working with itself as it has picked up two series, Wedding Band and Hound Dogs. Wedding Band follows two friends who escape the rigors of their own lives by starting a... wait for it... wedding band. Hound Dogs is about a minor league baseball team. [Deadline Hollywood]

I'm excited about Mike and Molly I'm loving it so far. I am also a fan of Blue Bloods and Hawaii 5-0 has been great so far. Didn't really pick up on The Defenders or Sh i T My Dad Says

I was excited about the cast of Blue Bloods, but the episodes are starting to get lame, as they focus on "big" plot setups that just ring phony. What happens in the commissioner's office is just not that interesting unless Batman is involved. And save us the inside the limo tough talk. Frustrating.

Wow, sounds like a lineup of potential boring shows! We need more crime profilers, Vampires, and people re-entering the dating scene! Sounds like Cr@@ to me!
