Christopher Meloni Leaves Law & Order: SVU

... Actor Christopher Meloni is dun-dun with Law & Order: SVU. Meloni has headlined the most popular series in the L&O; franchise since it debuted in 1999, but NBC and Meloni could not reach a new deal with his contract. With Meloni gone, NBC is looking for a new star to take his spot. May I suggest Charlie Sheen? [TV Line]

... Edward James Olmos is the newest cast member on Showtime's Dexter, signing on for the grisly drama's sixth season. Already announced as new cast members are Mos Def and Colin Hanks. Olmos will play a "charismatic professor of religious studies," as if there is a professor of religious studies out there who isn't charismatic. Let's just start this rumor right now: In season 6, Dexter finds God... and kills him. [EW]

... Congratulations to Fox and CBS, who can now look down upon NBC, ABC, and The CW with disdain once again. Fox won the season's title among 18-49 year-olds, the seventh season in a row that the home of American Idol has done so. CBS once again can claim to be the "most-watched" network, as it tallied the most total viewers of all the networks. NBC didn't go home empty-handed, as it takes the crown of network with the most shows about a magic cape. [EW]

... Wicked Witch of the TV Nancy Grace will exit Swift Justice after just one season. She's leaving the show because she wants to spend more time with her family to make sure her children grow up as evil as they can be. [THR]

... Dude! Ronnie and The Situation got in a fist fight! [TMZ]

... The newest TV trend: Pirates! Both FX and Fox (sister companies) are moving forward with pirate-based shows. FX is partnering with The Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd for Port Royale, which was announced earlier this year. It's about pirates. Fox is teaming with the Scott brothers, Ridley and Tony, for Pyrates, a miniseries event with a horribly spelled title. It's also about pirates. How long before we see a show about pirates in the 1960s who sing? [Deadline Hollywood]

Thinking on a little more, the idea of bringing Corey Stoll over from LOLA actually solves 2 problems - it plugs the hole in the SVU cast and gives them a chance to resolve the LOLA season ending cliffhanger. I'd rather see Alfred Molina (he's the better actor) but Corey could be a better fit for New York's SVU

Certainly going to miss Christopher but it's L&O.; They are practically the shw that invented the rotating cast. They could keep it in family and just move Corey Stoll or Alfred Molina from LOLA or hell even Jeff Goldblum from LOCI or as someone already suggested Michael Imperioli who was on a regular on the mothership. Speaking of which, either Jeremy Sisto or Anthony Anderson would work as well.

No Meloni no L&O; SVU period.

The pairing of Hagitay and Meloni have always been great, so it won't be the same without either one. Sad abt his leaving, though i agree that Elia Koteas would be a perfect replacement.

im sad about Meloni leaving, i dont think the show is gonna be any good now! =(

Why not replace Meloni with Michael Imperiolli (Detroit 187, Sopranos). He is well known and a great actor. He would fit right inn. Or Corey Stoll (L&O; LA). I like him. Meloni have never been my favourite character so I woun*t miss him that much.

If they get Elia Koteas to replace him, they don’t even have to change the character!
