Curb Your Enthusiasm's New Trailer Brings Neurosis to NYC (VIDEO)

There's plenty of TV to get excited about this summer now that cable offers programming that heats up in tandem with the season's rising temps. But as you prepare for vampires, con artists, alien invasions, and drug-dealers, don't forget about the cranky old man in the corner. The eighth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm premieres July 10, and HBO has the new footage to prove it.

One note on the trailer: The first two guest stars to appear are Paul F. Tompkins (the man behind the desk) and Brett Gelman (the man with no parking skills), two of my favorite comedians working in television these days.

Because of its home on premium cable and odd scheduling (the show is no stranger to taking a year off here and there), Curb Your Enthusiasm isn't at the forefront of the mainstream viewer's mind and hence tends to waddle a bit under the radar. But longtime fans will tell you that it's every bit as good as its spiritual predecessor Seinfeld (Curb star Larry David co-created Seinfeld with Jerry and served as the inspiration for George), and belongs in any worthwhile discussion of TV's all-time greatest comedies.

For me, it's neck-and-neck with Seinfeld in my list of all-time favorites, and definitely in my top 10. There's something about being able to do more with taboo subjects that gives Curb a slight advantage over Seinfeld, but Seinfeld definitely had the better supporting cast. In terms of stars, it's no contest: Larry David beats Jerry Seinfeld, hands down.

Where do you rank Curb Your Enthusiasm on your list of all-time favorite comedies?

I LOVE "Curb." One of my top 5 faves (can't pick just one w/this show!) was the episode when LD has his elderly "father" hang out w/a weed-smoking hooker. "Curb" pushes way past the boundaries of what is considered "taboo" on Network TV, but does it in such a hilarious way, ya gotta love it.

This show is sooooooooooooooooo funny. I think you have put it in a different category than Seinfeld though (despite the obvious similarities), just cuz it's on HBO... Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom of all time. While Curb is the best cable comedy of all time. and everything I have seen/read about this upcoming season has me very excited!!

    -"What's your name?"

    -"My name is Larry David"

-"And what do you happen to enjoy?"

-"I happen to enjoy wearing women's panties"

Does it get any better than that?

    Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
