Fox Announces Dates for Its Season Finales and Summer Premieres

Fox is helping you plan your summer vacation, and they get their way, instead of packing up the kids and mini-van and exploring the majesties of the Grand Canyon, you'll instead be home on the couch watching people who think they can dance. The network announced dates for both its season finales and summer premieres today, with the highlights being the season finales of American Idol and The Following, and the series premiere of the wacky new workplace reality show Does Someone Have to Go.

Let's start with the finales: A new American Idol champ will be crowned May 16 in the second hour of a two-part finale. As usual, it will be tape-delayed so by the time it airs on the West Coast, you should already be able to purchase the winner's Christmas album, even though you won't know who the winner is. Because of The Following's shortened 15-episode season, the Kevin Bacon-starring series will wrap things up on April 29 with the reveal that Ryan Hardy has been one of Carroll's followers all along, but then an argument between the two forces Hardy to start his own cult of serial killers who practice the preachings of Robert Louis Stevenson.

This summer, prepare yourself for the very summery show Does Someone Have to Go, a reality program that gives businesses a chance to fix themselves by handing the power to some of the employees. The employees can then use their power to suggest new ideas, fire slacking coworkers, or just run the company into the ground. This sounds like a terrible idea, and I feel bad for everyone who is participating in it. Also coming this summer is Fox's new Saturday-night block, Animation Domination High-Def, featuring short-form animated series Axe Cop, High School USA!, Golan the Insatiable, and more. It makes its debut Saturday, July 27 from 11pm to 12:30am.

[UPDATE - March 12] Fox has changed the season finale dates for four of its shows: New Girl, The Mindy Project, Touchand Kitchen Nightmares. The season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance has been adjusted from a two-hour premiere to a one-hour premiere. The changes are reflected in the schedule below.

I love Bones I wish it could be on all year around, but even squints need a break. hope the cast enjoys their summer vacation and I look forward to Season 9 as well as hopefully many more.. I love Bones!

Can wait to see how "The following" will ended ..hope that they return for second season...

  • wuggerhugger Mar 29, 2013

9:00-10:00 PM GLEE (Season Finale) :D It is right after my birthday and I guess Bones

  • Boolia Mar 09, 2013

I'll be looking into Animation Domination High Def on Saturday nights.

  • joeyazzi Mar 03, 2013

Touch is one of the best things on TV right now! People should watch it!! I hate how underrated it is!

  • CharmedOneP391 Mar 01, 2013

Now that Fringe has bowed out, FOX's schedule interests me none, at all. Only thing I watch is Family Guy and that's far from appointment television.

  • AnoukvdZee Mar 01, 2013

I think I overdosed on Kitchen Nightmares etc., because Does Someone Have To Go sounds hilarious to me. No surprise then perhaps that I'll be watching Hell's Kitchen and SYTYCD

  • JT_Kirk Mar 01, 2013

Fox literally has nothing to offer me on weekdays now, how sad.

  • DavidJackson8 Mar 01, 2013

This article just made me realize New Girl is the only Fox show I currently watch.

  • TheBam711 Mar 02, 2013

No Raising Hope? The Following is pretty good, imo. Ben & Kate sadly got canceled.

  • DavidJackson8 Mar 02, 2013

I watched the first 4 episodes of The Following, and it just didn't do anything for me... so I quit. I've only seen one episode of Raising Hope (mostly for Garret Dillahunt) and I didn't like that episode enough to keep watching... it's on my "to watch" list if I feel like trying out a new show. I did watch Ben & Kate, though.

  • FringeFanatic Mar 01, 2013

    It's enough.

  • Silver_Sword_14 Mar 01, 2013

The Following's finale should be exciting, but what I'm really interested in is the Animation Domination High-Def block. Hopefully, it won't just be an attempt to clone Adult Swim.

  • torque_smacky Mar 01, 2013

It's definitely an Adult Swim clone, the only question is of what quality. Worst-case scenario, it'll be like Spike TV's attempt to clone Adult Swim back in 2004.
