HBO Re-elects Veep for a Third Season

HBO wants Meyer in 2014! The pay-cable network has ordered a third season of its comedy Veep, asking for 10 episodes to air in 2014. The series is currently in its second season, where it's enjoyed a ratings boost thanks in part to riding Game of Thrones' wake. Last year, Veep was paired with Girls, but apparently the Lannisters make for better bedfellows than Lena Dunham.

In case you don't know (though you should), Veep stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as fictional vice president Selina Meyer, a bumbling politician with aspirations to one day sit in the Oval Office. Reid Scott, Tony Hale, Matt Walsh, and Anna Chlumsky play her aids, and don't forget about Timothy Simons as the arrogant White House liaison. The show was created by Armando Iannucci, the man behind the popular U.K. political comedy The Thick of It

With all this talent both established and emerging on Veep, it got me thinking, "I wonder who everyone's favorite character is?" So I made a poll! For the record, I'm voting Jonah. He and Mike together are incredible.

Veep airs Sunday nights at 10pm on HBO.

I've been watching Braking Bad, Dexter and Bates Motel so far this Christmas and I suddenly decided that I needed to cheer up with something far less serious. I was thinking about giving Veep a shot for a while and I'm so glad that I finally did. If someone had told that "The West Wing and Parks and Rec had a baby together and then they gave that baby to HBO to raise and nurture" then I'd have been all over this from the very beginning, but hey, at least I'm caught up now. I can't wait for the new season to start and I hope they manage to find a place for Ben, he's great.
Right, I've off to watch The West Wing for the 16th time! Hey, do you think Veep could get Jimmy Smits to play the current POTUS?

The humor builts and builts and suddenly you find yourself cracking. Dreyfus is super subtle. I know there's lotsa on the nose stuff (intentionally) but the things inbetween, when we are "not supposed to notice" is downright genius. Dreyfus is killer!

I'm starting to really like the mess that is Mike this season.

Veep is my favourite show. It's pure perfection. Thanks HBO!

Awesome news. Veep is such a great show. I'm so happy it got renewed for another season.

Mike is hilarious. His pathetic-ness just makes this show incredibly funny.

Dam it HBO, as if I didn't have enough reasons to love you already.

    "Sue, did the President call?"
    "No."
So simple and yet so funny.

Jonah ftw, that oblivious giant !

Cool. Veep's steadily becoming one of my favorite comedies.

I'm surprised that Sue is second in the voting. She has too small a role for me to vote her... she has like one sassy line per episode and that's that. I guess the very small role makes it harder to find annoyances in her character, though. Then again, I'm behind one episode, so maybe she had a bigger role in that one...

... anyway, I voted for Mike, but I could easily have voted for Selina or any of her other four lackeys.

    I'd say she's pretty robust.

Yea I reckon the latest episode might have had some impact on it.
