After successfully launching its first scripted series in April with the supernatural period drama Salem, WGN America is gearing up for the premiere of its second original program, the eagerly anticipated atomic-bomb series Manhattan on Sunday, July 27. Another period piece, Manhattan is set in the 1940s in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and follows a group of scientists who are secretly recruited to the Manhattan Project. The story will detail the struggles the scientists and their families face as they realize that what they're working on is no ordinary assignment: The small town they live in can't be found on any map, secrets are threatening to rip their marriages apart, and some of the world's best minds are torn between their sense of duty and what they believe to be moral right.

We've been looking forward to this one since the first teaser was released in April, and the full trailer doesn't disappoint:

Shot on location in Santa Fe, New Mexico (check out that scenery!), the series was created by Sam Shaw (Masters of Sex) and is directed by The West Wing's Thomas Schlamme. It also boasts an excellent ensemble cast that includes John Benjamin Hickey (The Big C), Olivia Williams (Dollhouse), Daniel Stern (Home Alone), Ashley Zukerman (Rush), Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards), Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones), Mark Moses (Mad Men), and more.

Will you watch Manhattan?

Sweet! Can't wait to see how it ends! I bet the island goes back in time.

Sounds like a US version of Bomb Girls. The setting is a little different but the period is about the same.

this looks interesting I have one problem...continuty

  • TatraFan Jun 11, 2014

Continuity? How can you tell the series has a continuity from a trailer?

  • jacobwright984 Jun 11, 2014

the manhattan project lasted 4 years so and there were numerous leaks lol

  • TatraFan Jun 12, 2014

Again you saw a 1 minute trailer so how do you know anything about the series' continuity or factual nature at this point?

  • TatraFan Jun 16, 2014

I'm not argumentative you made a claim that they didn't follow history because of a 1 minute clip of perhaps 1-5 episodes (at most) combined and jumbled up. That is like saying some one didn't tell the complete story of the Battle of The Bulge in a book because your a 20 random pages of a book about it. Sure, you can look up all the facts of the Battle of Bulge , but from a a random sampling of 20 pages of a book on it you won't get every fact. That is unless the author happens to list literally 20 pages of detailed facts that cover the entire battle (as known so far) to history. Your argument just doesn't hold water actually that this series is factually flawed given the evidence we have from a 1 minute clip.

well the manhattan project is real so you can look at facts and the real leaks yourself you seem very argumentative
