NCIS Adds a Nana

NCIS has made the very logical cast addition of Lily Tomlin (Damages), who’ll play Agent McGee’s grandma. Says EP Gary Glasberg: “Don’t let the word grandmother fool you. Penelope is sharp as a tack and we’re about to learn some things about McGee’s family that have never been revealed.” Consider my DVR set! [EW]

… TMZ reported that the big three networks–NBC, ABC and CBS (if you replace Fox with NBC that is)–are currently in a bidding war for an exclusive interview with Casey Anthony, you know, the woman who got away with murder was on trial for the death of her baby. ABC and CBS both vigorously deny it, though NBC remains suspiciously quiet. NBC also happens to be the network closest to closing the million-dollar deal, according to TMZ. Rumors that the Peacock network are also considering hiring Anthony to host a rebooted version of The Weakest Link are proving to be unfounded, however. (Because I just started them right here. Good rumor, though! Let’s get that one going.) [TMZ, THR]

… All-powerful media deity Oprah Winfrey is starting to feel a little less invincible than usual. She recently took over operations of her tanking cable channel OWN, and now comes reports that O Magazine is having trouble filling its ad pages. Hmm. Maybe people are sick of seeing Oprah on every single cover, standing around various parts of her sprawling estate next to reheated articles about “living your life to the fullest?” Or print is dead. It’s probably one of those two. Oh well–maybe NPH can save the day! [THR]

… A&E; will produce a four-hour mini based on Stephen King’s Bag of Bones. It’s set to star Nicole Richie Pierce Brosnan and Annabeth Gish. [TVLine]

The Simpsons is devoting an entire episode to skewering the ripe topic of social networking in an episode called “The D’oh-cial Network.” And guess who’s making a guest appearance? Wrong, not Mark Zuckerberg. Arnie Hammer. What?! That’s totally exciting! He’ll be reprising his dual role as The Social Network’s Winklevii. [EW]

Glee’s Darren Criss is in talks to replace Daniel Radcliffe in the Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. This is actually quite smart of him, because at the rate power-mad series dictator Ryan Murphy is offing them, none of those actors is going to have a job. Might as well get a leg-up on the Broadway employment circuit! [EW]

… The Wayans Brothers have settled out of court with their former, longtime comedy writing partner, from whom they apparently stole an idea for a “You Know You’re a Gold Digger...” book from. So original! Justice is served. [THR]

Lily Tomlin is seriously great casting man, can't wait to see her in action!

I think it's great to see a bit more about McGee's past. All the other characters have been through horrible things, maybe it's nice to see a bit more ' normal' past. It wouldn't be realistic if every character on the series had such a horrifying history. His past has not really been discovered unlike most of the other characters.

I like McGee, he may not be such interesting character like Gibbs or Tony. Maybe because he's not some superhero, however he's great at what he does without having a huge ego. I think that's great because it offers some different aspects to the series.

I can't wait to see Lily Tomlin on NCIS! Also, I'm glad we get to see more of McGee's family and, hopefully, learn even more about him. McGee is an underappreciated character.

I have a pair of designer pumps just like Ziva's on NCIS which I bought at

Everyone says they won't watch Casey Anthony once she gets interviews and tv deals but sadly they will.

Whatever, I LOVE McGee and love any episodes that give him some depth as to why he does the way he does. Gibbs, Tony, and Ziva have a lot of story already known. What of Palmer or Abby (like meeting her brother?). They have brushed on Ducky, but come on....NCIS is more then 3 people.

Unlike the previous comments, I am excited to learn more about McGee and his past. I love episodes where we can get into the head of one of the characters. Plus I do not think he is boring. :D

we met his sister before and now were meeting his granny. think we'll get to meet his parents next? really now mcgee is a pretty boring character and i think all of us would rather see an ep about gibs and his former partner that was minor shown during tony's backstory flashback. though he likely died/retired from whatever he was talking about

I really couldn't care less about McGee's past. He's not Tony and he's not Gibbs, hence, I hate every episode that seems to focus on him. Come on now, actually get some of the old spice back in the show that doesn't include the computer geek, and I won't lie, that's how I'll always see him and how he always should be. He doesn't have the history Tony and Gibbs has, and they shouldn't act like he does.
