BUSINESS TIME

... Adult Swim has ordered more seasons of crazy comedies Childrens Hospital and STSF:SD:SUV:: for a fifth and third season, respectively. Look for new episodes next year! [Adult Swim via press release]

... Fox has bought a comedy from America's Sweetheart Reese Witherspoon. She'll executive produce Wendy & Peter, a comedy about a single mother and her tech-savvy billionaire kid. It's like Ben & Kate, except with different names. [Deadline Hollywood]

... NBC is developing Then Came Elvis, a semi-autobiographical comedy from Up All Night producer DJ Nash. The series would be about a family that actually gets closer after the parents divorce. [Deadline Hollywood]

CASTING ROUNDUP STARRING [YOUR NAME HERE]

... Netflix's relaunch of Arrested Development might feature me! It might feature you! It might feature your grandmother! The upcoming season will feature six roles for fans of the show, chosen through a contest in which fans submit some form of Arrested Development-themed tribute. So go ahead and buy a few buckets of blue paint. [EW]

... Parenthood has cast Pamela Adlon as a bitchy woman who moves into the building next door to the music studio that the Braverman brothers use. Adlon is known for her role on Californication, but even better known for providing the voice of Bobby Hill in King of the Hill. [TV Line]

... The producers of Once Upon a Time like this new Captain Hook character so much, they've asked him to stick around. Actor Colin O'Donoghue, who plays the new villain, has been bumped up to series regular even though we haven't even met him yet. He's due to be introduced in the October 21 episode. [TV Guide]

... Nip/Tuck vet Dylan Baker will drop by CSI for its eighth episode playing a serial killer in what's being called a very dark episode. Baker is currently starring in another CBS procedural, the recently resurrected Unforgettable. [TV Line]

TIM: Stsf:sd:suv::, you got everything right including the awesome double end colons but you got the first letter wrong? ;-)

I almost feel like Adult Swim did those shows no favors. NTSF:SD:SUV:: is fun but it feels like they're getting a little lost in the format. Childrens Hospital meanwhile is funny but could run out of ideas at any second. I'm not sure but I think I'd rather see them get canned earlier rather than fade into late-night basic-cable mediocrity.

Goldurnit am I sick of Dylan Baker playing killers on TV. As interesting a character as he plays on The Good Wife, it's just such a cliche at this point. I'd watch a show with TV regulars playing against type.

I'm not sure how it would be possible to run out of ideas on a show that has no continuity. They can literally do anything with that setting and those characters.

And yet it feels like they're repeating the same rhythms and gags over and over already.

Wendy and Peter...? And older lady and a young boy? Am I the only one seeing a potential J. M. Barrie reference here?

Nope, that's exactly what I thought, too.

I had no idea pamela adlon, kathy najimy and brittany murphy did voices for king of the hill. that's crazy.

Dear TV writers: please stop creating shows based on your own lives! I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but your life is not nearly as original or interesting as you think :(
