HOME SWEET HOME TO TONS OF VILLAINS

... Not wanting to be left out of the superhero genre now that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has taken over the airwaves, Fox has decided to get in on the genre action with a Batman-adjacent project titled Gotham that will explore Commissioner James Gordon and the bad guys who made the fake city famous. If Gary Oldman ain't in it, I'm out. [EW]

BUSINESS TIME

... Spartacus vets Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing are developing a new series for Starz about an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent who infiltrates a Mexican drug cartel. The project, titled Gringo, was inspired by the nonfiction book The Shadow Catcher by Hipolito Acosta. [Variety]

... Sad news, guys. Bill Nye the Science Guy might be out of the running on Dancing With the Stars after he tripped at the end of his performance last night. He injured his knee and is waiting on MRI results to determine whether he'll be able to continue. [Deadline]

... Bones creator Hart Hanson, along with The Secret Circle creator Andrew Miller, will adapt Chris Ewan's book series The Good Thief’s Guide for ABC. The story follows Charlie Howard, a charming fellow who travels the world while blogging about his adventures. Oh yeah, and he steals stuff for funsies (and sometimes profit). Each season will be set in a new exotic location and focus on one particular heist. [Deadline]

CASTING NEWS

... Jack Coleman (remember Heroes? Haha, Heroes)has landed a recurring role on ABC's Scandal. The details of his character, however, are being safely guarded by Shonda Rhimes' minions. But we can tell you that his first appearance will happen sometime in October. Vague enough for ya? [TV Guide]

... The casting for Syfy's new pilot Dominion has really gotten under way. Anthony Stewart Head, who played Rupert Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has been cast as David Weel, the power-hungry president of the Senate of Vega. Also new to the project are Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones) as Claire Rysen, the closest thing Vega has to a princess; Luke Allen-Gale (Ripper Street), who'll play William Weel, the son of David and the Head of the Church of the Savior; and Shivani Ghai (Bride & Prejudice) as Arika, a lead diplomat sent from Helena, a mysterious and militant matriarchal society. They join the previously announced Christopher Egan and Tom Wisdom. [Syfy via press release]

... Lucy, the socially awkward lady friend of Raj's who dumped him The Big Bang Theory's May finale, might be experiencing a change of heart with regard to Koothrappali. Actress Kate Micucci will reprise her role in the November 14 episode. [THR]

... Julianne Hough is returning to Dancing with the Stars on October 7, but this time she'll be a guest judge alongside Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. [ABC via press release]

... Warehouse 13 vet Joanne Kelly has booked a major recurring role on CBS's thriller Hostages. She'll play Vanessa, an ambassador and the sister of the first lady. [Deadline]

Tell me I am wrong to say that the role of James Gordon HAS to be given to Bryan Cranston.
    Agree?

Jack Coleman is a "charming southerner" apparently. I'm curious about that haha.

    Can't complain.

  • movieblogger Sep 25, 2013

He looks like he'd fit right in on Scandal.

Jim Gordon is one of the least interesting characters in the Batman universe. It would be more interesting having a show revolving around Alfred the butler.

  • JT_Kirk Sep 25, 2013

Fox plus Batman equals canceled. No matter how good The Dark Knight was thanks to Jim Gordon, as a TV series it won't hold up without the actual Batman. And yeah, no Gary Oldman, no watchy.

Syfy should do a "Krypton Series' about Superman's father Jor-El facing off

Zod and Brainiac before the planet gets destroyed... This will take place before

Smallville, Metropolis and Watchtower, the years before Kal-El/Clark Kent became

    as Superman...

i would not mined one bit Jor-El is the standing caring hero stopping evil on

planet krypton, and protecting his son Kal-El to be this hero or superhero into

the near future beyond Krypton at all... And I think beginning of the "Man of

Steel film" is prove this series of Krypton could work out...

also before Batgirl also because James Gordon is her father... Well, It actually

basically holds the origin story on everybody from Batman on different key

terms.. Not just only Batman you know... And it is also a origin story on

himself how he becomes Commissioner James Gordon from being Detective Jim

    Gordon...
