... FX has announced the debut date of The Americans, the next great-looking drama for the cable network. The series, which stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as Russian spies posing as a married American couple in the 1980s during The Cold War, will take over the spot vacated by American Horror Story and premiere on Wednesday, January 30 at 10pm. [Deadline Hollywood]

... The CW hasn't forgotten about Cult, an interesting looking spooky drama held for midseason. The series will debut Tuesday, February 19 at 9pm in the crater left by Emily Owens, M.D. Cult is an experiment in meta television, focusing on a show within a show that has a legion of obsessed fans that may or may not be reenacting the dangerous plot twists in real (television) life. I say we all band together and re-reenact what happens on the show just to blow The CW's mind and make this thing meta to the third power. I've added a trailer below so you can see what sort of madness you're in for. [The CW via press release]

... Canadian company Bell Media has canceled The L.A. Complex, which The CW was borrowing to pad its schedule. However, just because it's gone in Canada doesn't mean it's gone from the U.S. The CW is reportedly considering picking it up for a third season. Or maybe The CW will pick it up for a third season of middling ratings and plots indistinguishable from the rest of its young hot people dramas. [TV Guide Canada]

... Lifetime has renewed America's Supernanny for a second season, to begin on January 8 so eat your veggies you brats or you get the belt buckle! [Deadline Hollywood]

... Fox is adding to its Animation Domination block, picking up Murder Police to series. The series centers on an inept detective and the rest of the wacky characters in his precinct. Look for it to debut sometime next season. [EW]

... Oh boy, NBC is at it again, eyeing another old property to renew for today's audience. This time it's the late-'60s cop drama Ironside, about a cop who learns to fight crime differently after being paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Maybe in the new version the wheelchair will have a talking A.I. and shoot lasers. You can have that recommendation for free, NBC. [Vulture]

... And this one sounds just plain silly so of course it's from Jamie Foxx. TNT is developing Hit, a drama about a pair of former high-school football teammates who are teamed up again when they start working for the Miami Police Department, where they are unstoppable thanks to their ability to work well together learned from playing high-school football together. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Last Resort and The Shield creator Shawn Ryan has a new project humming at HBO. Badlands follows the good and bad times of a mining family in Wyoming as they struggle to survive. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Michael Richards (Seinfeld's Kramer) will co-star in TV Land's upcoming Giant Baby. The comedy stars Kirstie Alley as a wealthy woman who reconnects with the son she gave up for adoption decades ago. Richards will play her limo driver. Rhea Perlman (Cheers) also stars, making this show one heck of a place for stars of old sitcoms to collect a check. [TV Land via press release]

... Game of Thrones's Sean Bean has been cast as the lead in TNT's pilot Legends. In the drama, Bean will play an undercover operative who specializes in transforming himself into a variety of alter egos. He replaces Brendan Fraser, which might just be the biggest compliment Fraser has ever received. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Denis O'Hare (True Blood) will stop by Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for a guest spot. He'll play a priest that's the victim of a brutal carjacking. [TV Guide]

Murder Police, the next Barney Miller, or the next Allen Gregory? Or maybe "the next Brickleberry, or the next Assy McGee?" and I know most folks will find both unacceptable, but Assy McGee was genius in its own bizarre way.

Okay, someone doesn't watch The L.A. Complex. It's amazing and a thousand times better than any other drama with "young, hot people".

So Legends will be a one season offer only? There's no way any Sean Bean's character can stay alive long enough for season 2...

After Revolution, I'm kinda looking forward to Ironside's remake :)
