CASTING NEWS

... It has not been a good couple of weeks to be a supporting cast member on an ABC drama! First, Private Practice parted ways with Tim Daly. Then Body of Proof booted three of its actors. Today, Scandal said goodbye to Henry Ian Cusick, who played Stephen Finch. The departure was described as amicable, but this can mean only one thing: ABC IS CLEARLY BROKE. The good news: now Cusick can join Fringe full-time as a super-future Fringe agent. [THR]

... No one wakes up in a field naked, smudged with dirt, and bloody like Kristen Hager, that tall blonde drink of water from Syfy's Being Human. And there's a good chance we'll be seeing more of Nora's post-wolf-out snuggle-ups because Hager's been promoted to series regular. Seeing as how every good episode of the last season featured her, this is a great thing. [THR]

... Actor journeyman Greg Grunberg has his next job: The former Heroes star will join ABC Family's Big Daddy for a guest role. The show, about a young guy who has to raise his daughter (who isn't named Hope but may as well be), will debut June 20. Grunberg will play the lead's absentee father. This show makes me not want to have kids. [TV Line]

... Professional basketball player and pro riot inciter Metta World Peace (formerly Ron Artest) will star in Lifetime's The Eleventh Victim, based on the book by Nancy Grace. Holy crap can this story get any weirder? Peace will play a detective alongside former Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Jennie Garth. Now would be a good time to buy that life insurance policy you've been thinking about, Jennie! [TV Guide]

BUSINESS TIME

... Cinemax's action series Strike Back has a return date, in case you are one of the few who have enough sense to watch this fun series. Season 2 will debut August 17 on Cinemax with back-to-back episodes. Plus, a special trailer will air this weekend after the Season 5 premiere of True Blood! [EW]

... Thanks to the miniseries Hatfields & McCoys, History won the week in ratings. OUT OF EVERYONE. The cable channel beat all broadcast and cable networks, averaging 6 million viewers in primetime to edge out CBS's 5.9 million. I know it's summer, but wowza! That's super-duper impressive, and the first time a cable channel has ever done that. [TV Guide]

JUST FOR ME NEWS

... Classic sitcom Get a Life, starring Chris Elliot, is finally coming to DVD on September 18. Hooray for me! [Laughspin]

How abouti if they kept Henry Ian Cussick as Finch, Himbo Manwhore Extraordinaire, and cancelled Scandal? That would be welcome news.

"The good news: now Cusick can join Fringe full-time as a super-future Fringe agent." - Oh hell yeah I'd say that's not just good news - that's great news! Hope it happens - I think it will - it now looks like it was meant to be. Woo-hoo!

I don't think ABC is broke, he's character was just so useless. Besides, they upped to regular that other guy.

Simon i s Free!!..i guess the letters finally reached ABC HQ!!

Wow, an historical that tried sticking to history had high ratings - I bet other directors never saw that coming!

Just guessing that it being a mini-series might have given viewers hopes of not have a fave show canceled half-way through helped too.

I refuse to watch new shows anymore because seems like whenever I like one it is canceled. So now I just wait till bored and find a show that was on for at least 3+ seasons and watch it online. Don't even use the tv for anything but sports anymore.

Love Henry Ian Cusick, he is my favorite LOST character. The only reason I tuned into SCANDAL was him. I felt he was short changed in a role so beneath him. The man is awesome. I do hope he winds up on FRINGE but hope he gets his own series worthy of such a great actor.
