BUSINESS TIME

... Two critically praised shows debuted last night, and you watched! ABC's Nashville won its 10pm timeslot with 9 million viewers and a 2.8 adult demo rating, beating CSI in the demo and crushing the premiere of NBC's Chicago Fire. The CW bowed Arrow, one of the shows it had big hopes for, and it was the biggest premiere for the network since The Vampire Diaries in 2009. More than 4 million viewers (which is GREAT for The CW) tuned in to see stud Stephen Amell shoot his abs at bad guys, and the demo rating was a solid 1.3. Congrats to you, shows! [TV By the Numbers]

... NBC will air Mockingbird Lane after all... at least for one episode. The show, whose fate is still up in the air following a shaky development process, is a reimagined version of The Munsters from Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller. NBC will air the pilot on October 26 before Grimm as part of a Halloween-themed programming block. Who knows? If it does well, maybe NBC will order it to series. Otherwise, it's another 10-million-dollar mistake. [THR]

... The next round of Celebrity Apprentice will be an all-star edition, but the contestants have not been announced yet. However, former players Piers Morgan, Joan Rivers, Arsenio Hall, and John Rich will appear on the cycle as mentors. [EW]

... Singer John Legend is producing a comedy at Fox based on his life because celebrities think their lives are sooooo interesting. The single-camera comedy will focus on a 20-something guy who becomes the guardian of his siblings while working on his career. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Modern Family's Ty Burrell and his brother Duncan have sold a project to ABC. The comedy is about two city families that buy a general store in a tiny rural community in Oregon. Yes, it's loosely based on their lives, too. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Yesterday I told you about CBS buying a project based on the Tumblr of a 20-something Hollywood assistant. Today, NBC bought a project based on the Tumblr of a 20-something something. The project is called F*ck I'm in My Twenties and I already hate it because people in their early 20s whining about how hard life is are totally annoying me right now. [Deadline Hollywood]

CASTING NEWS

... Matt Bomer will guest-star on The New Normal and you just went into a screaming fit at the mention of Matt Bomer, didn't you? [Ryan Murphy's Twitter]

... Christie Brinkley will guest-star on Parks and Recreation, playing Jerry's wife Gayle. Yes, Jerry is married to THE uptown girl. [EW]

... If you want to star on Game of Thrones, it's totally easy! All you need is a hacksaw! [NY Post]

I've been watching Fuller's bTwitter feed and so far he didn't say anything about this new development. I wonder if NBC is still ready to give his show another chance if the ratings are good.

That doesn't bode well for Mockingbird Lane if they're dumping the pilot without a series behind it, but it's NBC so stranger things have happened.

Zero chance "F*ck I'm in my twenties" is going to live with that title. And wow, another tv show based on young adults figuring out life - glad to see TV isn't afraid to change exactly nothing in 30 years.

The Mockingbird Lane preview approach is similar to the preview movies that use to be made to judge the interest in a possible TV series. Hopefully it will do well enough in the ratings, although it is coming out on a Friday when many people will be off at Halloween parties so the ratings can't be expected to be all that great.

Christie Brinkley will play Jerry's wife?!

Lucky son of b*tch! No wonder his daughter Millicent is so hot. I can't wait to see the others' reaction when they meet Gayle.

Well we know Jerry's very well equipped so that could be the reason.

Can someone help me with the hacksaw? I can't do it by myself. It's too much!

  • crazylegs99 Oct 12, 2012

Tim, you sick bastard! Thanks to your hacksaw comment, I now have juice coming out of my nostrils.

Guess I'm watching one episode of The New Normal!

I am glad Nashville got a 2.8. It's a great show, and I never can get enough of Connie Britton.

I have high hopes for Mockingbird Lane.
