CASTING NEWS

... The Following's Jennifer Ferrin is joining the third season of AMC's Hell on Wheels as a regular. She'll play a New York journalist sent to cover the building of the railroad. You know what Hell on Wheels needs more of? Edgar Allen Poe! [TV Line]

... Carrie Mathison will just have to clean out her own refrigerator on the next season of Homeland. Actor David Marciano, who played snoop-for-hire Virgil in the first two seasons, is leaving the show to write and produce his own project. While Marciano will no longer be a regular on the series (he was promoted to that status in Season 2), he could recur as a guest star. Marciano's new project is a drama about a criminal enterprise that operates out of a prison, and it's currently being shopped around to networks. No word on Virgil's partner Max! [Deadline Hollywood]

... Prolific and versatile actress Alfre Woodard is joining the next season of BBC America's Copper. She'll play Hattie Lemaster, a former slave who's looking to start things over in the Five Points. [BBC America via press release]

Look for it in the fall. [Comedy Central via press release]

... Revenge is planning on killing off one of its main characters in the upcoming Season 2 finale! If we all cross our fingers and pray, maybe we can will it to be Declan. [TV Line]

... Another day, another History miniseries in development. This time, the network that brought you The Bible and Hatfields & McCoys is fictionalizing the Revolutionary War in Sons of Liberty. The series would follow Samuel Adams, John Adams, John Hancock, Paul Revere, and that turncoat Benedict Arnold. Yesterday, the network announced that it's working on a Harry Houdini miniseries starring Adrien Brody. [THR]

... Stay busy, Ryan Murphy. The Glee, American Horror Story, and The New Normal creator has another show in the works, this time at HBO. Details are scarce, but the pilot, titled Open, takes a look at modern human sexuality and relationships. It's being co-written by Dexter's Lauren Gussis. Hey Murph, how about leaving some of Hollywood for the rest of us? [Deadline Hollywood]

Wow I thought that was Arquette but seriously thought it had to be her older sister or something. Seriously, it bothered me so much I had to google it. When does anyone in Hollywood age so horribly? She looks like she could be my grandmother and I'm 30 years old!

I've been following Boardwalk Empire from the start, so I love when fresh faces are added to the cast. I also work at DISH with several people who like BE, so I'm sure that they'll be elated by the addition of Patricia Arquette when I tell them Monday. This season is so highly anticipated, and I'm happy that I still have last season on my DISH Hopper. It can hold up to 1,250 SD or 450 HD hours of recordings so I've been able to record full seasons of my favorite series, I'll still have room when the new season of BE starts, and I haven't had to delete anything to make more recording space.

1,250 hours?! You mean for the past few years I've been struggling with 100 hours like a damn fool?

Who cares? The show is garbage without Jimmy. Owen was vastly underdeveloped before he was killed off and the writing in general has become sloppy.

Is Declan actually a main character? I just see him as someone I am trying to ignore... Anyway, with Jack having lost his wife, I doubt he's now going to lose the brother too... I think one of the senior Graysons either Vicky or Conrad... Or perhaps Ashley, she always wears the prettiest dresses but seriously how much more sneaking & plotting can she do?

I am not sure whether Aidan Mathis counts as main character but he is looking very perishable...

Uh, that would be Edgar ALLAN Poe. Couldn't take 30 seconds to check? Tsk, tsk.

  • haldrey Apr 12, 2013

All the other changes I could care less but Patricia Arquette in Boardwalk Empire will make an excellent show even better.

  • klotensen Apr 12, 2013

Is that an old pic of Patricia Arquette ? Or maybe she's a non-aging entity ...
    Either way, impressive.

Why did I think that Boardwalk Empire was cancelled? Happy I'm wrong!
I'll watch any series made by the History channel!
Maybe TV.com staff will review Copper this next season?

I thought Max and Virgil were brothers, isn't that what Virgil tells Carrie when she first meets Max right before they bug Brody's house?

A speakeasy owner that tangles with Nucky can mean only 1 of 2 things: 1) a dead speakeasy owner, or 2) Nucky's next sexual conquest.
