News Briefs: Sex and the City's Sarah Jessica Parker Is Returning to TV
CORRUPTION AND THE CITY
... Sarah Jessica Parker is trading in Carrie Bradshaw's fancy dresses and Manolo Blahniks for something more suitable to investigative journalists, like jeans, probably. The Sex and the City actress, who hasn't done much TV work since the series ended in 2004, has been cast in Busted, a new hour-long drama based on the book Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love. Set in Philadelphia (obviously), Busted tells the true story of two journalists, Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker, who uncover, through the help of a criminal informant, the corruption of the police department's narcotics force. Parker will play one of the two leads. David Frankel will direct and executive produce, while Don Roos is set to write the pilot. The producers will shop the series once they have the rest of the cast in place. [Deadline]
