News Briefs: USA Asks for More Psych Scripts

IT'S ALL BUSINESS TODAY IN THIS SHORT EDITION OF NEWS BRIEFS!

... Good news Psychopaths, Psychos, Psychotic Mamas, Psychlists, Cult of the Giant Pineapple, or whatever Psych fans call themselves. USA Network has asked for five more scripts of the investigative comedy, a strong sign that it's thinking about adding episodes to the show's light, eight-episode order for Season 8. There's been talk that Season 8 may be the final season of the show, so any extra hours you can tack on would be great, USA. [Deadline Hollywood]

... E! has unleashed its most recent development slate. So that's what smells. Zing! Got you, E! Please deposit your tears in this can marked "Best-Tasting Thing Ever." There's way too much uninteresting stuff here to go over all of it, but here are the highlights (relatively speaking, of course): The Wanted Life follows boy band The Wanted and debuts June 2. Total Divas puts cameras on the ladies of the WWE and guess what? They're total head cases! Look for that on July 28. In development are Queens Are Wild, following female poker players; Flash, a reality competition series for photographers: and The Soup Investigatesa spinoff from the Joel McHale-hosted comedy program that gets to the bottom of silly TV stories. For a whole list of what E! has cooking, follow the link. But I'm warning you, your faith in America will be tested. [EW]

... Revenge creator Mike Kelley is doing what most Revenge fans are doing and will leave the ABC drama after two seasons, whether or not it gets renewed for a third. Kelley, who served as executive producer and showrunner on the series, may return as a consultant. Hollywood's little birds whisper that Kelley wanted to increase the quality of Revenge with a reduced episode order per season for the show, something ABC was not willing to budge on. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Author James Ellroy (LA Confidential) has sold a project to FX based on his novel Shakedown. The drama would be set in the 1950s and follow the era's top Hollywood gossip gabber, a former cop turned loudmouth who exposes the saucy lives of celebrities. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Mario Lopez is returning to Fox's The X Factor as host! But Khloe Kardashian isn't! Well, that's settled. [Fox via press release]

This is one of my favorite shows on tv, ever. Def my fave comedy. Its the only show where Im constantly using quotes from the show. Id like to see it go to a nice round 10 seasons. Hopefully it will, cause its a unique and really funny show unlike anything else on tv. And god knows we could use much more of that. So c'mon usa...dont be Nic Cage's accent from Con Air and keep it going please. Glad to see they added more episodes, if its going out, it deserves to go out in style and with respect to all the longtime fans.

Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job Ive had. Last Monday I got a new Alfa Romeo from bringing in $7778. I started this 9 months ago and practically straight away started making more than $83 per hour. I work through this link, Mojo50.com

I remember Psych being way funnier in its earlier seasons.
    It's still awesome though

The storyline involving the foster brother on Revenge really cheesed me off, show is up & down all season

  • Iwatchtomuch Apr 23, 2013

Psych is fantastic, still as funny as season 1 so I just don't get the whole this may be last season crap, however I really hate the current "Juliet knows" story line

That's ridiculous ABC wouldn't budge on the episode order, especially with how lackluster a lot of this season has been. I'm not sure how much I will continue with the third season if there's a lot of mediocre episodes thrown in, but I might still try.

i have no idea what the other news is. Was too excited about more Psych to focus. YAY! YAY!

Wow! So, this is what pure joy feels like. There is no better show than Psych right now. Come on, USA - keep up the good work! Sorry but everything after more episodes of psych just looked like blah, blah, blah.

Woo, 5 more episodes of Psych! You know that's right!

That whole E! paragraph just went in one eyeball and out the other, it's like a jumble of nonsense, how is that programming? The Soup Investigates is the only thing that might be watchable, and only then like once a year.

Shakedown sounds good, even if it is just taking LA Confidential and putting it in a blender. FX needs a copycat of TNT's new show... whatever the hell it's called this week.

Oh no, poor Khloe, I'll miss her... said nobody.

I got bored with Psych a couple seasons back, but if they put an end to the series I'll probably catch up and watch the ending. It's a great show, it just got a little too repetitive.
