Put Your Votin' Shoes On: Our "Best of 2012" Polls Are Officially Open

By TV.com Staff

Dec 07, 2012

We promised you a year-end voting extravaganza, and now it's here: Our Best of 2012 polls are officially open!

With your help, our trusty editors have nominated hundreds of shows, actors, characters, and even a handful of web series in dozens of categories, from "classics" like "Best Overall Series" and "Best New Series" to this-ain't-no-Emmys offerings like "Most Charming Geek" and "Biggest Badass."

So get clicking, eh? You can vote more than once (both per day and in each category), and thus we encourage you do so in order to help make sure your favorites win. We'll be spotlighting individual categories and providing some notes on how we selected the nominees in the coming weeks; until then, may the odds be ever in your favorite shows' favor.

Why are there so few series availale for voting. Many of the series/actors are shows I have never seen or never heard of.

  • terminaltrip421 Dec 07, 2012

Glad to know there's little point in voting because of the setup. I thought it was pointless to vote since it seems most people prefer shows I don't already.

  • BooZYtheKloWn Dec 07, 2012

Very bad idea to allow multiple votes... In no way will it ever be accurate

  • DillonMcIntyr Dec 07, 2012

I mean the fact that Anna Torv (Fringe is one of my favorite shows on air) is destroying Claire Danes by over 12 thousand votes is HYSTERICAL. Pathetic set up you guys have going here.

  • DillonMcIntyr Dec 07, 2012

The fact that you can vote more than once eliminates any sort of legitimacy this poll had. Stupid as hell, and you're being laughed at all across the internet, just so you know. Might as well be the teen choice awards. Pathetic.

Allowing voting more than once is a big fail. None of the results will be accurate.

  • MintberryCrunch Dec 07, 2012

"You can vote more than once".......like for the same category/show? because that's what it seems like and as such this whole thing is a complete failure.

  • ben45tpy Dec 07, 2012

Well in case we thought this mass voting democratic experiment would yield worthy winners, it won't. And can you believe that Best Animated Series has more votes than all the other categories put together.

  • TrevPlatt Dec 07, 2012

How the hell does some My Little Pony crap even get on the list? And no Archer? It makes a complete joke of that category.

  • TVcom_editorial Staff Dec 07, 2012

We "elevated" Archer to "Best Comedy Series."

  • TrevPlatt Dec 07, 2012

Where it would fail to make a dent against the 24 episodes per season mainstays and the biggest cult favorite on this site. Doesn't matter though I guess because My Little Pony is apparently the best show ever created with 400,000+ votes!?!?

  • mblm85 Dec 07, 2012

i think it's a mistake to show what the current votes are as it encourages people to vote with the pack than what they may have without prior knowledge.

  • TrevPlatt Dec 07, 2012

Also agree, if only to save Longmire some embarrassment.

  • Taccado Dec 07, 2012

I completely agree. Sure, it's fun to look at the bars and how the voting progresses, but seeing the votes does affect our decisions.

  • mblm85 Dec 07, 2012

Put it this way: on the first few votes I looked at, my choices are well behind the current winners so why should I bother? I've closed the vote page.

  • bicelis Dec 07, 2012

The odds are almost never in my favorite show's favor
