The CW Has Pulled the Plug on Emily Owens, M.D.

Dammit, I already used my one good medicine-related cancellation headline of the day on The Mob Doctor! Apparently today is Obvious Cancellation Day, because The CW has followed Fox's lead and made the long-overdue decision to whack Emily Owens, M.D.. The first-year show was six episodes into its first season when The CW said no more.

But there WILL be more, for this is the season where shows that networks don't want to see a fourteenth episode of get to put all of their produced episodes on the air. All 13 episodes of Emily Owens, M.D. will be broadcast so that you can get closure and the actors and crew can pick up a few more paychecks.

The most recent episode of Emily Owens, M.D., which aired last night, drew one million viewers and a 0.3 rating in the adult demo, which may as well have been a flatline.

This sounds like the perfect time for an irrelevant poll! Who would win in a fight to the death, Emily Owens, M.D.'s Emily Owens or The Mob Doctor's Grace Devlin? Vote for your "who" in the poll, then put your "why" in the comments.

Wow, as the weeks go on, I keep thinking how sad it is that this show is not going to continue. This week's episode was by far the best. And not because of the Will/Emily-thing. But because the show has found a perfect balance between "happy lighthearted" and "reflective painful". She really moved on from Will and was actually considering Micah as a possibility. Do you know how hard it is to do that in real life? To get over wanting to be with your best friend who you see every day and accept that you will have to be interested in someone else? I loved how real this show had gotten and still made me smile by the end of each episode. It's not right that gems like this get taken away...

I totally agree!! The CW has a winner here and doesn't even realize it! Fans are still trying to save show - join Facebook Fan page or Twitter (@ Kifness) to help!

Really sucks that there won't be more. So what it doesn't appeal to the "Diaries" audience but maybe its time for a new audience. And the it was getting so good. Such a waste.

That's what i'm thinking! If the CW wanted more comedies and procedurals - they must have also been targeting different demographics! But give these new viewers a chance to adapt and get used to joining CW! Don't cancel after only 6 episodes! People are still just finding out about it and enjoying this on Hulu - Fan numbers are still growing!!

Terrific show. Look forward to this every week. So much better then the Carrie Diaries. Please rethink this decision.

WTH! Another great new show cancelled. This is an amazing show - great drama, very funny, and heartwarming. Maybe if they co-star Honey Boo Boo, they'll keep it since people seem to gravitate to stupidity. I am so frustrated with the networks. I can't keep up with all the new shows and when a great one does come along, they cancel it. Time to boycott TV.
