The Killing Has an Official Return Date

The third season of The Killing that no one few people asked for has just cemented itself in my disbeliving brain as an actual, real, happening thing, because AMC has just announced a premiere date for Season 3: The canceled-and-then-uncanceled series will return on Sunday, June 2 at 8pm with a two-hour premiere.

When we last left Seattle—in what was ultimately a satisfying, if too late, finale—Detective Linden had seemingly walked away from police work. But Season 3 will waste no time getting her back in the game. From AMC:

Season 3 begins one year after the close of the Rosie Larsen case, with Sarah Linden no longer working as a detective. But when her ex-partner Stephen Holder's search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that connects to a previous murder investigation by Linden, she is drawn back into the life she thought she'd left behind.

Joining returning cast members Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman for the new storyline will be Peter Sarsgaard, Elias Koteas, and Amy Simetz. This is a talented cast! Now let's hope showrunner Veena Sud gives them some decent material to work with this time.

Not as good as the original, but I still absolutely loved the American remake. I guess the typical American drama series is a whole other beast when compared with its counterparts from other countries. I can only speculate that that is why The Killing was not terribly successful over there. It wasn't the norm.

As an Aussie, I guess I've been exposed to drama from others parts of the world (predominately the US and the UK but others countries as well). I always found drama from the UK so much more rivoting... letting a story unfold in an interesting and unexpected manner takes presidence over finding the killer in 42 minutes.

When compared exclusively againt a network procedural, sure, I concede, The Killing was slow. However, I always found it interesting even when it went off on tangents that didn't necessary follow the Rosie Larsen case. The character development was great and the camera work was very atmospheric. Am totally looking forward to season 3.

I don't hate it, I actually really tried to like it and I still think it's pretentious and boring. But I'm glad for the fans and really surprised that they are bringing it back. So, no Bill Campbell? Lol.

Of course one should always watch the original instead of some american remake, but in this case I fear that both are way too sophisticated for an american audience who just seem to want to know who the murderer is.

the synopsis for season 3 sounds good. we need a serialized detective series - the others are all wrapped up within the episode.

Well, as much as I disliked Killing from second half of first season, I will give third season (and new story) a try. They should do that way in second season (not to drag one story through 2 seasons). And may be critics gonna like Killing again as they did during first half of 1 season. It would be interesting revival of the show. May be story was messing everybody up in 2 previous seasons. Let's see.

I just finished joining this site because I want to say how much I love The Killing and can't wait for the new season. I couldn't disagree more with the reviewer that the actors didn't have anything good with which to work storywise for the first two seasons. That is nonsense. This site has been hating on this show from almost the beginning. I think The Killing had a lot going for it, and I preferred it to Homeland, another pretty good show that didn't wrap up anything in its first season.

Stopped in the middle of season 2 when I felt too drawn out. And I'm a man with patience!
