The Walking Dead Will Arrive This Halloween

Start stockpiling canned goods, shotgun ammunition, and water, and for God's sake get some plywood over those windows. The Walking Dead is/are coming.

AMC has announced the anticipated series' premiere date, and it's oh-so fitting: Halloween. October 31st. That's when we'll see the first episode of Frank Darabont's (Shawshank Redemption) take on Robert Kirkman's comic book series about the zombie apocalypse.

And for those of you disappointed that the first season will only be six episodes long, there's some good news. The first episode will run an extended 90 minutes. That's 30 extra minutes of watching survivor Rick Grimes shoot out the brains of the lumbering undead.

The extended trailer that premiered at this year's Comic-Con has been recut and is finally officially available in all its non-shakycam glory. Check it out below (and don't forget to pop that sucker into full-screen mode)!

Are you as excited about this series as I am? I just finished book three and really hope the show gets that far because there is some totally messed up s*** that happens that I want to see on television.

In anticipation of the premiere, let's get some zombie apocalypse discussion going. Here's the scenario: After tangling with a group of the undead, your loved one/soul mate is bitten on the wrist. Infection can happen at any second. You're in the safehouse with ragtag medical supplies, an axe, guns, and several frightened survivors. What do you do with your loved one (who happens to be really hot, btw)? Bonus points for creativity! Answer in the comments section below!

I am SO excited about this show. Zombie movies are among my favorite movies, I always get so excited when a new one (that actually seems worth watching) comes out, now my wait is over. I can have my zombie fix on a weekly basis. is should I say dead...undead?

This is the only new show this fall show that I am looking forward to at all (OK, maybe Boardwalk Empire). A serialized Zombie show? I'm enthusiastic about the concept. Let's hope they do it justice.

If history teaches us anything it's that no matter how virulent a disease may be there is a small portion of the population that remains uneffected. With this in mind you segregate the bitten party and wait it out. On a side note, you could never keep the virus out of the rest of the body through amputation because once bitten the virus enters the bloodstream. Cutting the arm off does no good because you could never get ahead of it. If the person is infected and does turn, a bullet to the head is quick, merciful and required. Anything else is just the plot line that leaves everyone asking, "Why would they do that?"

This series has the potential to be huge as long as they do it right. Here's hoping they do and so far it looks great!

screw and screw for the last time, tie up. incapacitate other survivors to provide food for my bondaged corpses bride. Eventually when i run out of survivors to feed her, turn myself into a zombie and go on a rampage of sex and killing with my bride at my side. precious
