What to Watch Tonight: The Finales of Nashville, Arrow, Suburgatory, and Criminal Minds

By Andy Daglas

May 14, 2014

What to watch on Wednesday, May 14...

With Slade threatening another of his loved ones, Oliver may be forced to return to his murderous ways. Elsewhere in “Unthinkable,” Diggle goes toe-to-toe with Waller, Thea seeks out Roy for support, and Team Arrow readies for a final showdown with Team Deathstroke.

8pm, ABC Family
Melissa & Joey
“Don’t Look Back in Anger” finds Mel and Joe trying to convince a counselor (Tim Conway) that their relationship is the very pinnacle of just-duckiness, by relating stories from their… years… togeth—hey, wait a minute, this a clip show! Nice try, Melissa & Joey, but you’ll have to do better than that to put one over on the crack What to Watch Tonight staff.

8pm, ABC
The Middle
Sue sets her sights on winning a car in an endurance contest in “Heck on a Hard Body.” Meanwhile, Frankie schleps to Axl’s dorm to help him find a vanished desk, and Mike’s ne’er-do-well brother Rusty tags along for a road trip to Brick’s spelling bee in Chicago.

“Stiiiiiiill Horny” bids a final adieu to Chatswin as Tessa signs up for a knitting circle, George channels his post-fling energies into songwriting, and Malik and Lisa hit the first rough patch of their young marriage.

Criminal Minds
A network of corruption may be driving the murders the team is investigating in “Demons.” But even as they pursue their latest fiend, one team member is devastated by a secret from the past while another is in peril, compelling Garcia into action.

9pm, ABC
Modern Family
Family and friends—including Nathan Lane and Elizabeth Banks—gather for Mitch and Cam’s special day in “The Wedding, Part 1.” Claire sinks her teeth into the role of best woman, but Phil is distracted by trying to knock off an eye doctor visit before the ceremony commences.

9pm, NBC
Law & Order: SVU
The “Former West Wing Cast Members Guest-Star as Total Skeeves” portion of the season rolls on with “Thought Criminal,” in which hotshot photog Joshua Malina is the target of the squad’s new, proactive approach to nabbing sex offenders. The only catch? Their investigation doesn’t seem to turn up evidence of a victim.

With a boost from Teddy, Rayna stages a massive free concert at LP Field to raise the profile of her Highway 65 debut in “On the Other Hand.” In other performances, Zoey, Avery, and Gunnar rock a benefit concert for Deacon’s favorite charity, and Avery’s personal plans to serenade Juliette go askew.

SEASON 2 FINALE, 10pm & 10:30pm, FXX
Jim quits the sauce in solidarity with Steve in “Sober,” triggering a bout of the DTs. Then in “Honesty,” Jim considers giving up another of his passions—comedy—after a heckler crosses the line violently.

10pm, NBC
Chicago P.D.
Voight and Platt share their backstories, Charlie’s return leaves Lindsay at a crossroads, and Halstead unearths the answers he’s been pursuing. Elsewhere in “The Docks,” Jin finds a scapegoat after he’s caught futzing with Voight’s computer, even though all he was doing was indulging his Free Cell addiction.

10pm, TV Land
Hot in Cleveland
In “Brokeback Elka,” Melanie leverages her malady into scoring tickets to country star Chase Jackson’s (Chris Isaak) concert, while Victoria suspects she’s being catfished.

10pm, FX
The Americans
As Larrick continues to tighten the noose in “Operation Chronicle,” Elizabeth hurries to get Jared to safety and Philip helps Fred gear up for a vital mission. Meanwhile, Arkady backs Stan into a corner.
