TV.com's Swell-o-vision vs. Hell-o-vision (August 19)

Here's what we thought was out of sight and just not right on television this week...

Swell:

... Bachelor Pad cranks up its cruelty quotient
In a move that would make the Spanish Inquisition jealous, ABC continued to torture its playthings with no regard for their humanity. This week saw contestants throwing paint-filled eggs whoever they considered the least-attractive people in the house. Wannabe Princess Whatsherface took the brunt of it all; Schadenfreude at its finest.

... Funny or Die takes on the "cute, quirky girl" stereotype
Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul stars in this (500) Days of Summer spoof, eviscerating the overplayed "goofball hipster woman" schtick that Zooey Deschanel currently encapsulates.

... Curb Your Enthusiasm has finally arrived in New York
We thought this was "the New York season." And after six episodes, it finally is. Be afraid, Big Apple. Be very afraid.

... The Nina Garcia challenge on Project Runway
The designers need to hear the word "No" in the work room more often, especially coming from a tiny, frightening woman who can destroy a person with her gaze.

... Glee's box-office flop
Is this proof that the Glee phenomenon is over? Is it proof that studios can't just stretch a TV show into ninety minutes? Is it proof that there is a God? D, all of the above.

Hell:

... This Mexican local news broadcast that makes light of a very serious matter
The Justin Bieber concert is sold out... it's a national disaster! Let these poor, poor girls grieve in peace!

... Burger King is dumping the creepy king mascot
The junk food chain is now targeting moms with an "our food is fresh" campaign. Looks like Sonic is the new Burger King of fast-food ads:

... Uh-oh, Coco
The Wall Street Journal breaks down just how bad things are for TBS' Conan... and they're pretty bad. Also recent cancel-ee George Lopez "accidentally" retweeted the news. Oops!

... Christine O'Donnell walks off the set of Piers Morgan Tonight
We're not mad that the former Senate hopeful had a dramatic spat on national television, we're mad that we had successfully FORGOTTEN about this lady until the incident. Thanks A LOT, Piers Morgan.

... Kim Kardashian's $20,000 wedding cake
Television needs to stop enabling this sh*t.

What made your list of TV loves and hates this week?

I agree, enough of these "reality" shows (WHO really cares?), lets get back to GOOD entertaining programs!!!

Regarding the Burger King: at first I was sad upon hearing the news, then I saw him teasingly try to push a black man off of a building. Also, doesn't the restaurant chain Sonic have some sort of right to the character Sonic?

Glee box office flop, the answer is D, all of the above. I left Glee when wife started wearing a fake belly to play like she was PG, and hubby did not notice..that was a great marriage. lol

The King wasn't creepy, just misunderstood.

  • vitakato Aug 22, 2011

lol I'd watch Quirky Girl :P

  • KingofIPirates Aug 22, 2011

Quirky girl was kinda good, and the King getting dumped is disappointing.

I just paid one million dollars for a hit man to identify, locate and have his way with whoever, human or bot or otherwise, is responsible for the continuous spamming of this website. We get it asshole: congratulations you get technology for cheap. Seriously though, isn't there a way to stop it?
