's Swell-o-vision vs. Hell-o-vision (June 25)

Here's what we thought was out of sight and just not right on TV this week.

... The football coming out episode of Party Down
We're also just super excited about tonight's season finale.

... USA! USA! USA!
On the brink of elimination, Landon Donovan chips in from the box to kick off an extra-early session of day-drinking and World Cup soccer-watching across the United States.

... The new Futurama doesn't suck!
Our cautiously low expectations were pleasantly crushed.

... The Boondocks taking on Tyler Perry
Aaron McGruder pulled zero punches with his skewering of the man behind Madea.

... Longest. Tennis match. Ever.
American John Isner won the fifth set with the score of 70-68. But all we'll really remember is how this historic Wimbledon match made daytime television worth watching. Thanks, time zones!

... Bristol Palin on The Secret Life of the American Teenager
My name is Bristol. I am a robot.

... Only half of the Glee cast is planning to attend Comic-Con
Allegedly it's because the other cast members were there last year. But we all really know it's because of that diva Lea Michele.

... Jason Lee in Memphis Beat is great...
But the rest of Memphis Beat is not.

... The Good Guys is getting reaaally repetitive already
Not that we really thought this show had a chance of sticking around.

... John Henson's canned one-liners on Wipeout
Remember when John Henson could be his bizarrely funny self on Talk Soup?

... The omnipresence of the cast of the awful-looking GrownUps as they take over our TVs to promote that garbage
Once upon a time, these guys were actually funny. Now they're just paying their mortgages.

What made your list of TV loves and hates this week?

Futurama IS back and no, it does NOT suck! The guy that thought it did must never have liked it in the first place. But why would you waste even a sentence talking about Bristol Palin? Her and her annoying family need to go away, FAR, FAR AWAY! As for tennis and soccer, well, lets just say, they are preferable to the WWE and the IFC, but thats not saying much!

We still like Good Guys so far. And I'll give Memphis Beat another look before decreeing it dead on the cutting room floor.

Well I see the dialogue & character interaction in a Brenda Hampton production is as stilted as ever. Jesus Hoobastank Christ!! Why is absolute moralising tripe like secret life of an american teenager so successful. Even watching 2 seconds of it makes me wish the entire human race would die.

I really like The Good Guys! I think it's funny, and of course it's repetitive- it's a procedural!

obvious error in the article above: the new Futurama DOES Suck!

lol at the madea parody though they forgot the baald dude got shot DX thats the whole reason why she went back to help him

Whoa, Bristol! That was really emotionless. What made the director think she was good in that? I guess I shouldn't be that surprised, the acting on the Secret Life already leaves much to be desired.

Palin family in general should stay out of the public eye forever!

  • fatfreeoreos Jun 26, 2010

Wow, even Bristol's dialogue sucks. It sounds like a cult. "We're all teen moms here. And musicians." "The program, it's for teen moms." Ugh.

Holy crap, I wasn't expecting her to be that awful. Hopefully people will have sense and never put her on tv again.
