's Swell-o-vision vs. Hell-o-vision (May 20)

Look out! It's the Rapture edition! Here's what we thought was out of sight and just not right on television this week...

... This Community cootie catcher
A Twitter user sent this pic of a homemade cootie catcher that's just like the one in Community's intro to show creator Dan Harmon. A rare instance in which Twitter has been useful! (P.S. These things are called "cootie catchers"?)

... L.A. Noire's kick-ass, TV-star-studded cast
There are lots of TV actors in Rockstar Games' latest release, including Fringe's John Noble, Bones' Carla Gallo, several Mad Men-ers, and Lost's Doc Artz! And with the fancy motion-capture technology (the best we've ever seen), the acting is better than 90 percent of what's on TV.

... The bloodbath on Law & Order: SVU
Well, that's one way to end a season. Definitely drives home how intense these detectives' jobs can be.

... Tosh is back!
One of our favorite internet-video commentators returned with a new episode on Tuesday. Highlights: Tosh getting punched in the face by Manny Pacquiao (with slo-mo replay!), and Boyz II Men singing backup on Tay Zonday's "Chocolate Rain" Web Redemption.

... "Google's Search Algorithms Are Sexist"
So says this hard-hitting news report on Sports Show with Norm MacDonald.

... Unexpected finale hook-ups (and their consequences!)
[SPOILERS!] Alcohol accomplished a miracle in getting Raj and Penny to wake up in bed next to each other on The Big Bang Theory, Booth and Brennan did it and are expecting on Bones, and we should all know by now what happened between Alicia and Will on The Good Wife.

... RIP, Randy "Macho Man" Savage
He jumped off the turnbuckle and into our hearts when we were all young boys...

... Networks designating Friday night as "Geek/Genre Night"
NBC's Chuck and new series Grimm join Fringe and Supernatural on what used to be the graveyard shift. But airing three of them at the same time is just plain stupid.

... Christina's team on The Voice delivered a migraine-inducing "Baba O'Riley"
Which also unfortunately ensured that Beverly's cornball banshee-shrieking will move on to another episode. We'll bring earplugs next week.

... Farewell, Mary Hart
Twenty-nine years later, the original bubbly entertainment anchor is taping her final Entertainment Tonight broadcast. Verklempt doesn't begin to describe what we're feeling right now.

... The end of the world is tomorrow
And we have way too much DVR backup!

What made your list of TV loves and hates this week?

Chuck is going to be on at 9:00 pm? Not 8 pm like it used to be?? NOOOOOO!!!!! I watch Fringe and SN too!!

  • joenamherst May 26, 2011

Hey Boneslover! On fridays, Fringe is viewed by a paltry 3.3 million viewers and Supernatural is watched by a laughable 2.1 million viwers. Thats 30rock type ratings.

Swell......No more of the unfunny, unwatched 30rock to stink up the airwaves!!

Swell: Everything Creed in The Office Finale

  • boneslover4 May 26, 2011

Does anyone think that NBC moved Chuck to Fridays since Supernatural obviously thrives there and Fringe also survived the move?

  • elainecleo May 26, 2011

I have 2 dual tuner DVRs and both will be working on Friday night, but I will also add CSI:NY..Very bad planning on the networks part and it will hurt Grimm the most I think.

I loved last Saturday's episode of Doctor Who, the one written by Neil Gaiman.
