WB bumps episode orders for drama, comedy series

The WB Network has picked up additional episodes of two freshman series, Related and Twins, although neither received an order for a full season.

The one-hour Related has nabbed an order for six segments, bringing its season total to 19, while the comedy Twins, which stars Sara Gilbert, Molly Stanton, and Melanie Griffith, has been given a five-episode pickup for a total of 18.

Freshman series normally get a nine-episode "back order" for a full-season 22 episodes, a procedure WB followed with its best-performing new show, hot drama Supernatural.

The reduced back orders for Related and Twins are said to be partially related to the process of cost-cutting throughout the divisions of Warner Bros.

Related and Twins have enjoyed support from the network. After a shaky start, the shows were moved into better-protected time slots. Related relocated to 9 p.m. Monday behind 7th Heaven, with reruns airing in its original 9 p.m. Wednesday berth, while Twins slid back an hour to 9:30 p.m. Friday, following Reba.

I am soooo HAPPY that they ordered more episodes for Related! I really enjoy it! =) I hope it stays... especially since this is 7th Heaven's last season. Is there anywhere we can show support for Related???

I agree with the person who said the WB should air a 7th Heaven or Gilmore Girls beginnings. I think either of those shows would boost the ratings for the 6pm/7pm hour on Sunday. As for Related, its good that there giving it some time hopefully the show will do well. Twins, I like the show, but I would rather watch Living With Fran.. but I think Twins will continue to do well

oops...I understand that the WB is trying to make new shows popular...however, playing them over and over and over, like thier easy view on sundays, makes me sick of the shows. I love Gilmore Girls. Why not Easy View that? And seriously?! Reba Beginnings...I didn't realize it was that popular of a show. Why not do Gilmore or 7th Heaven beginings...granted, they are being replayed on ABC Family so i guss the WB doesn't figure that they have to replay them on their channel.

    I understand that

Yay! "Related" got more episodes order. I wish it got 22 instead of 19 but beggers can't be choosers, I guess, especially with the low ratings so far. Hopefully more people will find the show in time.

As for "Twins"...well, the WB has failed yet again to make a FUNNY sitcom. Seriously, this network is cursed when it comes to making a good sitcom.
