What to Watch: June 22 - 28
We're still hooked by the death of a housewife, which because of programming differences in some states, took place in Sydney and Brisbane last week and the rest of the country this week. But even the follow up episode (Sydney/Brisbane only) is a memorable one as the surviving friends look back on the life of their departed. And no it isn't just full of flashbacks, but "new" scenes that again help us understand her character. In a final bow, she also narrates the entire episode instead of Mary-Alice.
Airs: 8:30pm Monday on Seven.
Uh oh. This episode sees the team in a foreign port where a little too much partying winds up planting RO Robert Dixon (Kristian Schmid) in the clutches of a ladyboy. But it is the writers teasing us with XO Kate McGregor (Lisa McCune) and Buffer Pete (Jeremy Lindsay-Taylor) who begin to notice one another, which could develop into something more. Meanwhile there's the usual dose of action, and a clumsy use of the Gold Coast doubling as another country.
Airs: 8:30pm Monday on Nine.
Forget about homeMADE, this is the real show about homes and renovations. In the first episode of this terrific UK series, a couple decide to renovate a derelict 200-year-old house, but find it is home to a colony of bats. So they have to build them a new "bat-cave" first. Check out this new series and find out what all the fuss is about.
Airs: 8:30pm Tuesday on ABC1.
Thank God You're Here
Adam Hills has his first ever stint entering the blue door and makes a fine job of it. Also appearing this week are Anh Do, Colin Lane and Julia Zemiro who really shines at improvisation. During the All-In, even Anh Do can't resist making a gag about Hillsy's prosthetic leg. This will air on different days in some states due to the competition from the State of Origin.
Airs: 7:30pm Wednesday (Thursday in Sydney and Brisbane) on Seven.
The Chaser's War on Everything
Those bad boys are back, after two weeks off-air over that naughty "Make a Realistic Wish" sketch. What on earth are they going to say and what gags do they have in mind that will avoid them landing in more hot water? All eyes on their opening remarks...
Airs: 9:00pm Wednesday on ABC1.
Trouble in Paradise
If you thought Getaway was there to inspire your next holiday plans, Trouble in Paradise may put an end to them. This series hears witness accounts of holidays that have ended in chaos in foreign countries as actors re-enact key scenes. The first tale, of two Aussie surfers held at gunpoint in Mexico is horrific stuff, and well enacted. The second takes place in Poland. Like the Pay TV series Banged Up Abroad (what about that title!) this can be fascinating if scary.
Airs: 8:30pm Thursday on Nine.
Sacha Baron Cohen visits as his (other) alter ego, the rather camp "Bruno". No doubt we will hear a lot from the Austrian fashion show presenter about his thoughts on Aussies, while he is here to plug his new movie. Meanwhile Daniel Merriweather will also perform "Change".
Airs: 8:30pm Sunday on TEN.
