What to watch on Wednesday, December 5...

8pm, The CW
Sensing a kindred spirit, Oliver takes the vengeance-seeking Huntress under his wing. But will she go too far? More importantly, will she introduce the six-pack-sporting archer to the virtues of a crimefighting costume with an ab window? Tune in to find out!

8pm, Fox
The X Factor
The remaining six finalists perform live in a two-hour episode. With the season finale just two weeks away, time is growing short for a stop-motion version of Simon Cowell to discover the true meaning of singing competitions.

9pm, NBC
Law & Order: SVU
In “Dreams Deferred,” NBC detective-procedural veteran Patricia Arquette guest-stars as a prostitute who must help the squad track down a mass murderer. Jason Gedrick also guest-stars, which hopefully doesn’t mean that Quinn’s ridiculous storyline from this season of Dexter is somehow crossing over.

10pm, FX
American Horror Story: Asylum
A homicidal Santa terrorizes Briarcliff in “Unholy Night,” because this is American Horror Story so of course a homicidal Santal terrorizes Briarcliff. The scariness factor of this episode will jump by at least 3,000 percent if it includes a macabre, Theremin-drenched rendition of “Carol of the Bells,” because seriously, that song is downright spooky.

10pm, CBS
The 2012 Grammy Nominations Concert
LL Cool J and Taylor Swift host an hour-long concert special unveiling the nominees for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. Performers include The Who, fun., and Maroon 5, because Adam Levine must now appear on at least 14 different networks every week.

“Where He Leads Me” is the freshman soap’s winter finale, and it sees Rayna giving Teddy a chance to clear up his alleged affair and Juliette discovering the loving embrace of Sean’s family. Meanwhile, Gunnar makes a confession to Scarlett, which is probably that even he doesn’t give a fig about their storyline on this show.
