Dec 10, 2013

What to watch on Tuesday, December 10...

8pm, Fox
American Country Awards
The fourth annual event honoring fan favorites on the country music scene, hosted live from Las Vegas by Trace Adkins and Danica Patrick. Slated performers include Sheryl Crow and Darius Rucker, Brad Paisley, and Florida Georgia Line.

8pm, Nickelodeon
Nick News With Linda Ellerbee
“Going for Cold Gold” profiles six teenagers striving to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Find out what it takes to become one of the world’s finest athletes on the snow or the ice, all before turning old enough to vote.

8pm, CBS
NCIS
The murder victim in “Devil’s Triad has ties to Gibbs’s ex-wife’s current squeeze. So expect a lot of standing around tugging at collars and coughing to break the awkward silences. Meanwhile, Ellie Bishop settles in with her new squad.

8pm, ABC
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Coulson preps for a strike on the sinister Centipede in “The Bridge,” and he’ll need all the super-strength-boasting guest-star power an episode airing in December can afford. Wait, not so fast, Captain America/Iron Man/Thor/Hulk... and welcome back, J. August Richards!

9pm, CBS
NCIS: Los Angeles
In “Iron Curtain Rising,” a Romanian Cold War relic has settled into a new identity and a new life in L.A. Can the team apprehend the alleged war criminal before he decamps for some super-secret ex-Soviet old folks’ home?

9pm, ABC
The Goldbergs
The teacher in charge of the high school talent show (Tim Meadows) refuses to let Barry flex his martial arts bonafides in “Kara-Te.” At least, not until Beverly steps in and gives the teacher the ol’ what-for. Pops has set the over-under for “number of Karate Kid references in this episode” at 7.5.

9:30pm, ABC
Trophy Wife
“Twas the Night Before Christmas… Or Twas It?” is but one of the many questions flustering Kate, Pete, Diane, and Jackie after a raucous Christmas Eve shindig leaves them—and the house—in a state of disrepair the next morning. Can they tidy up in time for the holiday tidings?

SEASON 6 FINALE, 10pm, FX
Sons of Anarchy
Jax’s decisions spell big-time trouble for those closest to him in “A Mother’s Work,” and also in pretty much every other episode of Sons of Anarchy. The finale is scheduled to run a whopping two hours, though we shouldn’t rule out the possibility of Kurt Sutter tacking on another 45 minutes or so before 10pm.

10pm, BET
Real Husbands of Hollywood
Kevin and Selita pull out all the celebratory stops in “Storm Showers,” while Bridgette and Nadine butt heads.

10pm, NBC
Chicago Fire
The squad makes a last-ditch effort to save Firehouse 51 from the chopping block in “Not Like This.” Elsewhere, an apartment fire puts the responders in serious danger, new developments turn Dawson’s life upside-down, and new union president Greg Sullivan finds himself in the spotlight.

10pm, CBS
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show
If you are the target audience for a cavalcade of supermodels in lingerie and/or performances from Taylor Swift and Fall Out Boy, there’s really only one viewing recommendation for you this evening.

If you are NOT the target audience but feel like you need to check out the photos from the event, just to stay up-to-date on what the kids are doin' these days, well, here they are:

10pm, Discovery
Amish Mafia
It’s “A Very Amish Christmas,” and Merlin is going to make darn sure that everybody understands the true meaning of the season. Levi has his own definition of that meaning: a chance to take some coin off the English.

10:30pm, MTV
Awkward.
The hour-long “Karmic Relief” finds Jenna determined to restore Val to her rightful position as guidance counselor, and equally determined to restore herself to her rightful position on Matty’s arm at prom.

10:30pm, Comedy Central
Kroll Show
A recap of Season 1’s best bits sets the stage for the sketch show’s return next month.
