What to Watch Tonight: NCIS, the Series Premiere of Cult, and the Season 3 Premiere of Body of Proof
What to watch on Tuesday, February 19...
On leave from NCIS in the wake of his wife’s death, a grieving Vance is further rattled by the discovery of shocking new personal information, which sends him into an existential crisis. Wow, episode summary for “Hereafter,” you are not leaving me with a lot of entry points for a joke here, are you? Not even a lighthearted B-story, eh?
The Conners had Halloween, the Friends gang had Thanksgiving, and the Chance family has Arbor Day. Sabrina doesn’t share their devout observance of everyone’s favorite botanically based April holiday, though—until she’s visited by its Ghosts of Past, Present, and Future in “Arbor Daze.”
SERIES PREMIERE, 9pm, The CW
Matt Davis was last seen pounding whiskies and stabbing people alongside Ian Somerhalder, so I can’t help but see this as anything but a downshift for him, fun-wise. Still, there looks to be a healthy dose of batshittery pumping through the veins of this new thriller about a journalist investigating the sundry lunatics obsessed with a hit TV show. Alona Tal (Supernatural) and Robert Knepper (Prison Break) also star.
I see what you did there, Go On. See, tonight's episode is called “Go Deep,” because NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens returns to take a job as Ryan’s assistant. But also, see, Ryan is irked when he has to read a promo for a male-enhancement product on the air. Somewhere, an NBC Standards & Practices flack shakes his fist irately at the sky. Also, I guess Terrell Owens is a professional sitcom actor now? Has our generation found its Dick Butkus?
Neal and Peter pursue different tacks during the FBI’s hunt for a pair of lovestruck thieves in “Shoot the Moon.” Peter’s seems to be somewhat less successful than intended, since he and Elizabeth wind up as the wannabe Bonnie and Clyde’s hostages... unless that was exactly his plan all along! Nah, forget it, the White Collar Division would never tolerate such hazardous trickery.
SEASON 3 PREMIERE, 10pm, ABC
Body of Proof
A few months after Peter’s death, Megan is back at work and teaming up with Det. Sullivan as “Abducted” kicks off the two-part season opener. Their quarry, a serial killer targeting young war vets, makes the case personal when he takes Megan’s daughter hostage. Geez, is it Hostage Tuesday again already? I miss Taco Tuesday.
While Derek hopes to get Ronnie (guest-star Jennifer Hudson) back in his corner, Ivy turns to an old friend for help moving forward. Elsewhere in “The Dramaturg,” Tom and Julia kvetch when Eileen sticks one too many cooks in their kitchen, and Katharine McPhee patiently waits in the corner and politely reminds you that she is still on the Peacock’s payroll also.
