What to Watch Tonight: Switched at Birth's Special Sign Language Episode, The Following, and Continuum
What to watch on Monday, March 4...
8pm, ABC Family
Switched At Birth
“Uprising” is presented almost entirely through American Sign Language, a first in primetime television history. When Carlton is threatened with closure, Daphne rallies a student protest to save the school, but Bay’s attempt to join their forces meets resistance. The episode is partially inspired by real-life events which took place at Gallaudet University 25 years ago this month.
A video game company with a sinister agenda is the common thread between two murder-suicides that occur on the same day in “Playtime.” Kiera and Carlos investigate, but they really ought to skip the legwork and consult a stack of Marvel comics, because this is clearly the handiwork of C-list supervillain Arcade.
Rules of Engagement
Poor Rules of Engagement. All the other CBS Monday shows got together and decided to run repeats this week, but as usual, nobody told ol’ Rulesy. You guys, Rules of Engagement is starting to feel like the other shows don’t even want it around. Whatevs, it’s just gonna air “Fountain of Youth” and let Jeff and Audrey worry about how having a baby will affect their social lives, and it doesn’t care what those jerkwad “popular” shows think.
Carroll and his attorney make a persuasive case to transfer him to another facility, and why shouldn’t the authorities listen to a man whose entire evil-genius M.O. is literally talking people into doing nefarious deeds on his behalf? Elsewhere in “Let Me Go,” Emma and Joey rendezvous with one of Roderick’s men, who—wait for it—has a secret of his own.
9pm, The CW
As the recently canceled reboot limps toward the finish line, isn’t this the perfect time to jump on board so you can say you were there at the bitter end? There’s nothing cooler than being part of a small, exclusive club, and few clubs are smaller than the audience for 90210. C’mon, there are dumber reasons to watch a TV show. Anyway, in “Life’s a Beach,” Liam stumbles into romantic hijinks when he plans to open a surf shop for women, and Naomi tries to convince Mark to stay in L.A.
John Ross and Christopher decide to settle their differences in the time-honored manner of Southern gentlemen everywhere: with a movie-riffing car chase! Elena thinks the events of “The Furious and the Fast” feel awfully familiar, as if she experienced something very similar in another life.
Suspicious of Joanna’s story, Robert flies her mother to New York in a gambit to reveal the truth in “Good Luck With Your Death.” Elsewhere, Joanna investigates Julian’s girlfriend; Mia offers to donate her blood marrow to the ailing Haverstock; Sofia visits an old acquaintance in the slammer; and NBC crosses another Monday off the calendar and fidgets anxiously in anticipation of Revolution’s return.
