What to Watch Tonight: The Mid-season Finales of The Vampire Diaries, Scandal, Grey's Anatomy, and Reign

What to watch on Thursday, December 12...

8pm, NBC
The Sing-Off
Today’s episode is brought to you by the number one, because the eight remaining groups will perform only chart-topping hits, and NBC hopes that one of its Thursday-night programs can exceed a 1.0 rating for the second week in a row.

8pm, CBS
The Big Bang Theory
When Sheldon heads to Texas in “The Cooper Extraction,” the rest of the gang ruminates on what a Sheldon-free existence may have been like. It's hard to imagine a world in which the word "bazinga" has no meaning.

8pm, The CW
The Vampire Diaries
“Fifty Shades of Grayson” is not, apparently, an experimental episode that brings to life Jeremy’’s salacious Nightwing fan fiction, but instead another episode where Damon and Stefan must work together to rescue Elena from a grisly situation. But Dr. Wes has an ace up his sleeve, one that awakens an unnerving element from Damon’s past.

9pm, The CW
Reign
So in “Fated,” Nostradamus is all, “Yo, Mary, so like, one of you guys is gonna totally bite it.” And Mary’s all, “WTF?!” But Nostradamus is all, “Dude, I’m frigging Nostradamus, I know this shit.” And so Mary has, like, this epic decision about Francis to make. And plus, Kenna tells Catherine that Diane is totally up to something involving Bash, and Clarissa is acting straight-up cray, I don’t even know. It’s for real, you guys.

9pm, USA
White Collar
“Digging Deeper” asks the question: “How do you con a man with a dinosaur?” Neal and Peter’s hunt for a purloined T-rex skeleton and fossilized egg at the Natural History Museum may just provide the answer.

9pm, Sundance
The Returned
The town is dividing into factions in "Adèle." While Pierre takes on more responsibility with the Outstretched Hand community, Camille finds herself an object of fear and scorn. Elsewhere, Julie and Laure’s plan of fleeing with Victor hits a strange snag.

9pm, ABC
Grey’s Anatomy
The docs’ drama doesn’t abate just because it’s the day of April’s nuptials in “Get Up, Stand Up.” Professional squabbles consume Meredith and Cristina, Bailey opens up to Ben about his homecoming, Derek fields a world-rocking phone call, and Shane sticks his neck out.

10pm, ABC
Scandal
“The truth is out there,” declares the logline for “A Door Marked Exit,” and if that means Harrison and Abby will decide to slip away from the rest of these sociopaths and go investigate alien-related crimes just to have a storyline, I say more power to ‘em. Instead, I’m sure we’ll get six or seven more twists about the true nature of Olivia’s mother, and at least three knock-down drag-outs between Liv and Fitz/Rowan/past Rowan/drunk Mellie/Jake's abs/a shocking new character to be named later.

10pm, NBC
Parenthood
Ryan may be peeved at Amber’s socializing with the band, but Amber makes it known that she’s counter-peeved. Meanwhile in “All That’s Left Is the Hugging,” Drew consults Crosby for romantic advice, Joel and Julia don their most convincing happy faces, and Adam watches Kristina’s back.

10pm, CBS
Elementary
“Internal Audit” presents Holmes and Watson with a hefty suspect list after a hedge fund manager/Ponzi scheme operator is liquidated by one of his clients. Off the investigative beat, Sherlock debates becoming an addiction recovery sponsor.

10pm, TBS
Ground Floor
At the ballpark in “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” Brody is torn between joining Mansfield in the luxury box or braving the nosebleed seats alongside Jenny. In other stadium shenanigans, Harvard winds up out of his depth in the company’s luxury suite, and Threepeat tries to score points with Mansfield.

12am, Cartoon Network
Eagleheart
Danger is afoot in “America.” Also peril. Perhaps jeopardy. Threats? Likely. Risk? I wouldn’t rule it out.
