What to Watch Tonight: The Olympics, Rake, and King of the Nerds

By Andy Daglas

Feb 13, 2014

What to watch on Thursday, February 13...

8pm, NBC
2014 Winter Olympic Games
Coverage from Sochi includes the men's figure skating short program, men’s freestyle skiing, the men's slopestyle gold medal final, the women’s speed skating 1000m gold medal final, and women’s skeleton.

8pm, ABC
The Taste
“Good With Beer” sends the cooks to L.A. restaurants with a knack for pairing suds and grub. After a brew-centric challenge, guest judge Jonathan Waxman will help determine which of the six remaining contestants will move one step closer to the finale.

8pm, Fox
American Idol
In another corner of the City of Angels, Jennifer, Harry, and Keith continue to audition hopefuls in Hollywood before announcing the top semifinalists.

9pm, Fox
Yo, Rake. As the broadcast networks’ only scripted show in primetime tonight, some potential new viewers may decide to give you a whirl. You probably oughta put your best foot forward, y’know, give ‘em an episode with broad appeal, something relatable and inviting. What’s that? Oh, your episode this week is called “Cannibal”? Is that, like, literal or… yep, okay, Keegan’s defending a cannibal (Denis O'Hare). Well. All right then. Forget I said anything.

9pm, Lifetime
Project Runway: Under the Gunn
“Hit the Stage” tasks the contestants with designing an ensemble for pop star Zendaya’s next performance. Can they conjure a concert aesthetic that catches the eyes of millennials and tweens alike?

9pm & 9:30pm, History
Pawn Stars
“Rough and Tumble” features some items signed by Dan Haggerty as well as a piece of flag that was hoisted by Teddy Roosevelt’s famed Rough Riders, and that T.R. most likely used to strangle a charging musk ox at some point. Then in “The Great Pawnbino,” Chumlee lends a hand when Rick experiences back problems, and the gang tends to a personal check signed by Babe Ruth.

10pm, TBS
King of the Nerds
“Ready, Set, Robot Dodgeball” promises robots chucking dodgeballs at one another. Or possibly just one robot, Dodgeballman, that the other robot has to defeat before he can claim the Dodgeball Hurler weapon. Really, it could go either way.

10pm & 10:30pm, HGTV
House Hunters / House Hunters International
A Portland, Oregon mom sets her sights on a tricked-out Ft. Lauderdale vacation condo. Then at 10:30pm, a career opportunity leads a couple to search for the dandiest Danish digs Odense has to offer.

11pm, MTV
Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory
“Ultimate Funcle” finds Rob Buckeye State-bound to meet his new nephew. Oh, and to make sure his folks are all ready for the End of Days. Like you do.
