What to watch on Thursday, January 19...

Wait, it's only Thursday? Dang, week, what's your problem? Oh well, at least there are literally a million good shows on tonight*:

8pm, CW
The Vampire Diaries
Perennially underdeveloped character Bonnie Bennett is about to get a lot more screen time (and even a house)! For example, we'll finally get to meet her suspiciously young-looking mother Abby Bennett and Abby's handsome young friend with whom Bonnie may or may not strike up a romance. Meanwhile we'll also learn more about that weird murder at the end of last week's episode, and Tyler will try much harder to regain his free will, which may or may not involve getting himself shirtlessly chained up and shouted at by Caroline's evil gay dad. (Don't ask.)

9pm, CBS
Person of Interest
This week's installment of Sentient Computers 'n Heroes involves Det. Carter's official introduction to Reese, and her subsequent decision about whether or not to assist in a case involving a young lawyer. Oh, just do it, Carter.

9pm, NBC
The Office
Now that Robert California's divorced he's considering selling his Scranton mansion, but Kevin suggests he throw a last-bash pool party for the office. Cool! (It's winter.) Elsewhere, Erin attempts to make Andy jealous by flirting with Dwight. (I'm not sure this is a good idea.)

Since the last season of Archer ended we've seen Jon Benjamin Has a Van, and it might be kind of hard to unsee the real man behind the spy. Oh well, that'll probably pass. In tonight's Season 3 premiere, Sterling gets upset when he discovers that Mallory is dating Burt Reynolds (as himself) and must get over these hurt feelings in order to evade the Cuban hit squad currently targeting him.

9pm, CW
The Secret Circle
This show's primary backstory gets a long-awaited unpacking tonight when Cassie helps Jake recover some buried memories regarding their parents' involvement in a boat fire 16 years ago. Meanwhile Faye's sexy voodoo times continue but take a turn for the annoying when one of Lee's bad-news friends visits the garage. Voodoo foul!

What the world needs now is another half-hour animated series for adults! Just kidding, the world has plenty of those already, so hopefully this is a good one? Airing on the heels of the decidedly hilarious Archer, Unsupervised tells the tales of a pair of teenage best friends who attempt to live a more adult lifestyle after they realize they have no parental supervision.

*Not literally.

I just realized how irrelevant the television might be in ten years. I haven't had a television for a month but i can still watch everything online. Internet killed the tv star?

I came to the same realization, I am moving in a few weeks and I decided not to renew my cable, at first I was worried that I'd miss out but then I realized that everything is available online now anyway.
