Syfy Cancels The Wil Wheaton Project

Syfy has canceled The Wil Wheaton Project, according to Wil Wheaton.

Though the network has yet to officially announce its decision to not move forward with the freshman talk show, Wheaton blogged about receiving the bad news on Friday.

According to Wheaton, Syfy executives in New York didn't think the weekly series had enough viewers to justify making more episodes. "I didn't say anything about the total lack of promotion off the network, or point out that our ratings were on par with The Soup, or that ratings are always lower in summer than the fall. I didn't  bother saying any of that, because I know he knows that," Wheaton said of his conversation with an unnamed Syfy exec.

"I'm really okay with it," Wheaton recounted. "I'm super sad that I won't get to work with my writers and producers, and I'm sad that we don't get to keep writing jokes, but I did everything I could to help the show succeed. I promoted it the best way I could, I worked hard to write stuff that was funny, and I tried so, so, so hard to get the network executives in New York to understand how they could help the show succeed."

Oh no! Thought it was really good. The only show about tv series and such. Could'nt it be picked by a more serious chanel?

Wow, he did a great job and was a very good host. It was a safe place for Sci Fi fans which is always good. The half hour that is running now - 'Town of the Living Dead' the reality show about making a zombie movie in Alabama is complete garbage. Not even remotely as entertaining as Wheaton's show was. Another dumb da dumb dumb move by what used to be a nice network to visit that is turning into a dumpster for bad ideas.

I'm glad it was cancelled. Wheaton never mentioned Falling Skies on his show, even though HE was the aftershow host. Wheaton was a sellout.

Sorry dude but in 1986 when we said we'd never forgive Gene Rodenbery for creating Wesley Crusher, we genuinely meant 'never'. If I can wrap my mind around a star ship 400 years in the future, I can certainly hold a grudge on Wil Wheaton for 28 years. And seriously, not a single negative thought about Will himself. Personally, I love the guy but he was Wesley Crusher. Get it?
