  • Gretchen Cordy was born February 7th, 1962, in NYC. She attended Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. For six years, Gretchen was a survival instructor for the US Air Force. There, Gretchen taught pilots and crewman who to survive the elements, by building shelters, fires, finding water, and signaling for help. Gretchen married her husband Dale in 1986. She moved to Clarksville, Tennessee, to start a family. In early 2000, Gretchen auditioned to be on a new reality-based show called 'Survivor', and was accepted. At the time, Gretchen worked part-time as a pre-school teacher. In March of 2000, a thirty-eight year-old Gretchen and 15 other Americans were stranded on Pulau Tiga, Sabah, off the coast of Borneo, Malaysia. Gretchen lasted twenty-one of the thirty-nine day competition. After the two tribes merged, Gretchen was viewed as a danger and was immediately voted out by the opposing tribe. Gretchen has two children, Ava and Eli, and husband of eighteen years, Dale. On weekends, Gretchen enjoys taking her family camping in the Hoh Rain Forest in Washington State.
