  • Ivan was born in Russia, and lived in Seattle, Washington, with his parents until moving to California in 2006. He began dancing at age 11, and did various styles of dance, including ballroom dancing with his mother. He focused on hip hop and in the summer of 2006 was chosen as a contestant on the second season of So You Think You Can Dance, and made it to the Top 6 before being eliminated.

    • Ivan appears as one of two male dancers in the Hannah Montana video for the song The Other Side Of Me.

    • When Ivan appeared on the Ellen show on September 7th, 2006, he admitted that his goal is to become a dancer with Justin Timberlake's show. Ellen told him she'd talk to Justin about it.

    • Ivan's inspiration to begin dancing came after he watched the movie Breakin' (1984). He then went to a dance studio and began learning hip hop dancing.

    • Ivan (with dance partner Allison Holker) performed a contemporary dance to Annie Lennox's Why in the finale of So You Think You Can Dance; choreographer Mia Michels chose it, saying that when she first saw it, it made her cry.

    • Ivan credits his success to having learned dance in Seattle; he feels that dancers in Seattle are taught to respect and care about their teachers and fellow dancers, while in L.A., dancers are more concerned about themselves.
