  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (3)

    • Maeve: (on her 1992 Emmy win) My biggest memory was how nice it felt to be totally relaxed and not hysterical or beside myself in any way, but just be able to get up there, say thank you, read my poem, and make people laugh!

    • Maeve: (comparing herself to her "Guiding Light" character) I enjoy my own children so much and feel so close to them. I just don't relate to them at all the way Vanessa relates to Little Billy. I find that hard. She's so much more formal. There's so much more distance between her and her son than in our family.

    • Maeve: (on "Guiding Light") We have a tradition of top-notch acting - Bill Roerick, Larry Gates... and because we're one of the longest running shows, we have that richness that's been there... and we just get richer and richer.

    Trivia (15)

    • Maeve had no intention of becoming an actress, instead she wanted to become an English teacher.

    • Maeve is considered a mentor to many of the young actresses who have appeared with her on Guiding Light. Krista Tesreau and Kimberley Simms, both who played Maeve's step-daughter "Mindy" on the show, say she is the best role model they've had in the world of soaps.

    • When Maeve left Guiding Light in 2000 fans of the show were outraged when it was revealed that she had been let go because she refused to continue dying her hair to look younger. When she returned in 2006 it was under the condition that she be allowed to "go gray".

    • Maeve frequently attends the gatherings of the Guiding Light Fan Club, where she gets the chance to interact with her viewing public.

    • In 2005, Maeve and several other Guiding Light stars were let go due to budget cuts. A short time later they were brought back, but this time, on recurring status.
