Michael Connelly is one of the most popular and critically acclaimed crime novelists working today. A former newspaper reporter, Connelly has become an heir to the hard-boiled style of Raymond Chandler, and has made Chandler's Los Angeles the setting for his own series of novels. Connelly broke onto the literary scene in 1992 with The Black Echo, which won the Mystery Writers of America's Edgar Award for Best First Novel. Connelly's most famous character is Detective Hieronymous "Harry" Bosch, an LAPD homicide detective who has appeared in 13 novels. Connelly has written six other novels, some featuring recurring characters and some as stand-alone mystery stories. In 2002, Connelly's novel Blood Work was turned into a feature film starring and directed by Clint Eastwood. Plans have been announced for other films to be made of his novels, but none have been developed.moreless
- Trivia & Quotes
Michael Connelly: (on being a reporter) That's the irony in the work: the best stories are the worst things that happen. My best times were somebody else's worst.
Michael Connelly: I don't miss being a reporter as a job, but I do miss the everyday interaction with the front line of law enforcement. I still have a cadre of cops who keep me up to date, but I don't have the access I used to.
