  • Biography
  • Taylor Kitsch is a model and actor. He has most recently found success in the role of "Tim Riggins" on NBC's Friday Night Lights.

Born in Kelowna, British Columbia and raised in Vancouver, Taylor Kitsch is the middle child of a large family with 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters.

Taylor played ice hockey in the Canadian BCHL for the Langley Hornets before a career ending knee injury.

Kitsch moved to New York City in 2002 to study acting, later signing with United Entertainment. During his time in New York he became a certified nutritionist and personal trainer. Kitsch also pursued modeling, working for IMG, and found success with brands including Abercromie & Fitch, Deisel, Clairol and Osmos. He also appeared in magazines including CosmoGirl, Super (with Meg Ryan) and N'uomo Vogue.

Kitsch admits that he always saw modeling as a "segue" into his acting career and a way to support himself in New York before moving to Los Angeles in 2003. Kitsch hasn't always found himself in the spotlight and has risen through hard times by finding homes in the subway and friend's closets on his way to the top. Kitsch spent weeks living out of his car attending auditions and hoping to find the role to jump start his acting career.

Taylor Kitsch made his acting debut in three 2006 summer blockbusters, co-starring in The Covenant as Pogue Perry. In addition to co-starring in Friday Night Lights, 2006 also found Taylor appearing on television in Kyle XY and Canadian TV show Godiva's. More recently he has found much film success, starring in Wolverine's origin story, X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Gambit/Remy Le Beau, The Bang Bang Club, John Carter, Battleship, Savages and it has been announced he will star in Lone Survivor.moreless

    • Talor: (On where he seeks his inspiration for playing Tim Riggins on Friday Night Lights) His looks come from a movie called State of Grace. His hair and some of the mannerisms are from the character played by Gary Oldman. I love watching Sean Penn and take as much as I can from him for this character, but I also have to make him my own, so a lot of his personality comes from what I choose.

    • Taylor: (On his role in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie) It was a lot of fun. I learned a lot working with Hugh Jackman and Liev [Schreiber]. It was just incredible. I'm super excited just to be a part of a project like that, you know?

    • Taylor: (on playing Gambit in the new X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie) The character is so much fun. It's gonna be fun to watch.

    • Taylor: (on Friday Night Lights being renewed for a third season) I can't wait to play Riggs one more go at least, you know? It's a comfort zone, it's so free, it's so...Riggs is a lot of fun, you know? I hope you guys have a lot of fun watching him again this year.

    • Taylor: Mark my words, if ten years from now you're seeing me on those red carpets at every premiere possible, posing with these toys...never, never, never, never, no. I'll be back home on the lake, on the boat, hanging out with friends and family.
