i love this episode for no other reason than that it gives a glimpse of the magnificent juanita moore. for those not in the know, juanita moore is the underrated actress from the fantastic late 50's melodrama, imitation of life which also featured lana turner and sandra dee along with the spicy and saucy, susan kohner. nurturing. it's hard to think of juanita moore's performances and not use the word nurturing.
this was the second episode of alfred hitchcock which featured juanita moore although in this episode her presence is slightly larger.
it is not often that african-americans are fundamental to the plots of series from the 60's and late 50's so i was presently surprised to learn the secret of the young girl's doll.
i was somewhat sad when i finished watching this episode. people seem unable to access their higher angels. prejudice and bigotry seem to win out in the end.
