    • Mrs. Foster: Then you did love her? Mr. Birch: Love her? I was possessed by her.

    • [Closing Narration] : Alfred Hitchcock: "When shall we three meet again? In thunder, lightening, or in rain? When the hurleyburly's done, when the battle's lost and won? That will be ere the set of sun." Well, in other words, that will be next week. Good night, viewers.

    • [Opening Narration] [As we begin, Alfred is looking down at something steaming] Alfred Hitchcock: "Double, double, toil and trouble. Fire burn and cauldron bubble". [The camera pulls back to reveal he is heating a baby bottle. He tests the temperature on his arm] Alfred Hitchcock: I don't know why people do this. It's not at all good for the cuffs. Takes the starch out of them. I wonder if it does that to babies? Of course, that must be the idea. As you shall soon see, tonight's play bears a relation to the foregoing, however slight. It is a tragical, comical, historical, pastoral, musical mystery entitled Toby. Toby takes place in New York in 1910 and on your television screen in just a moment. Alfred Hitchcock: By an odd coincidence, we have a story about a man who decided to be someone other than himself. And by an equally odd coincidence, it is rehearsed and ready to start. Here it is.
