    • Arthur, D.W., and the Brain all get new voice actors starting with this episode.

    • Andrew Porporino is now listed as an executive producer along with Carol Greenwald. Additionally, Greg Bailey is now credited as "Producer/Director" -- formerly his only credit was "Director."

    • The name "Mr. Toad" and his mentioning of a "motorcar" in "The Great Sock Mystery" are references to the popular children's book The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.

    • Viewers were first introduced to Baby Kate and Pal talking in "The Secret Life of Dogs & Babies."

    • When Kate is negotiating with Mr. Toad, she asks him if he wants Arthur's Woogle, to which he responds "that fad went out with the '90s." Woogles first appeared in the story Arthur Rides the Bandwagon," in which Woogles becomes the latest fad, but then died out. That episode aired in 1998.

    • Toady, first seen in the first season story "So Long, Spanky" makes a return appearance in "The Great Sock Mystery." Viewers learn in this episode that though D.W. adopted Toady following the death of her parrot, he is now living free again.

    • In "The Great Sock Mystery", when Pal shows Kate the hair, it suddenly disappears when she shows him the fish scale.

    • While Amigo is explaining to Pal how dogs have helped people, he mentions how dogs were sent into space. He is referring Laika, the first dog (or animal), to be sent in space in 1957.

    • The story title "Cast Away" references a Tom Hanks film by the same name about a man stranded on an island.

    • Alan Greenspaniel: ...interest rates...blah blah...the economy...blah blah...
      A bespectacled dog called "Alan Greenspaniel" is a reference to Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan.
