    • Robin: Just a few seconds left, Batman, and there's no way out!
Batman: Courage, Robin. Keep your mask up.

    • Robin: Holy Toreador!
Batman: The word is "matador," Robin. "Toreador" is merely a word of convenience used by Bizet in his classic opera, Carmen.
      Robin: Holy Matador, then.
      Batman: Very apt.

    • Batman: There's a tiny green speck and an even tinier red speck on it, Robin. Here, take a look at this.
Robin: What do you think it is, Batman?
Batman: The red speck appears to be chili and the green speck appears to be avocado. Do you know that means?
Robin: That Shame is a sloppy eater?
      Batman: Partly.

    • Messy Jones: But boss, how did you know?
Shame: I knew he'd think I'd think he'd think I'd think he'd come back here.

    • Laughing Leo: You wouldn't hit a man with glasses, would you?
      Batman: You're not wearing glasses.
      Laughing Leo: Oh, I'm not?
Batman: (Batman punches Laughing Leo) Laugh that off, Leo!

    Notes (3)

    • Madge Blake is credited but doesn't appear.

    • The character of Andy in these two episodes is named for episode writer Stanley Ralph Ross' own 8-year-old son, Andy.

    • Milton Frome portrayed Vice Admiral Fangschleister in the 1966 Batman: The Movie.

    Trivia (3)

    • When Shame faces off against Batman and Robin in the final battle, in the first long shots the porch supports behind him are to either side of his head. In the closeups, one of the supports is directly behind him.

    • The scene with the little old lady buying a hot rod from Laughing Leo is a reference to the song "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena". The little old lady says "I came all the way from Pasadena to buy this car!", and was portrayed by Kathryn Minner, the same woman portraying the famous "little old lady" on the Jan and Dean album of the same name.

    • Werner Klemperer appears as Colonel Wilheim Klink in the window cameo. Not only did his series appear on another network but it was set during World War II. Yet Robin sends a word of hello to Colonel Hogan.

    Allusions (1)

    • Batman: It was, Andy. The most dangerous game of all.
This alludes to the short story, The Hounds of Zaroff, by Richard Connell first published in 1924 and became the basis for the movie, The Most Dangerous Game starring Joel McCrea in 1932.
