  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (4)

    • Tigh: The last batch of passengers kicked up some trouble. You get these people to the other side, they think there's a diner and a chef waiting to take their order.

    • Adama: (when Kat tries to confess) When you were CAG, you protected your people, made them feel safe enough to be brave. What you were going to say, does it change that?

    • Kara: (briefing the Raptor pilots) Remember, we're all flying solo on this mission, so that means there'll be nobody there to bitchslap you if you start to get tired or start seeing little toasters on your wing.

    • Adama: I hear they're still eating paper. Is that true? Tigh: No. Paper shortage.

    Notes (4)

    • According to Katee Sackhoff, Edward James Olmos suggested that the cast abstain from eating for a period of time in order to prepare for the scenes of starvation in this episode. Not every actor agreed with the idea.

    • Gaeta was one of the few in the CIC not to applaud Tigh's return to duty. Gaeta probably harbors resentment over his treatment by Tigh and the Circle in "Collaborators."

    • As of the beginning of this episode, there are 41,420 survivors, 2 fewer than in the previous episode.

    • The story, written by series newcomer Jane Espenson, was inspired by a talk given by Dr. Kevin Grazier, a scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The producers brought Dr. Grazier in to address members of the production team. He explored the problems and solutions of navigating through space, and reaching a particular location in the universe, such as Earth. Dr. Grazier serves as science advisor for the series as well as for another Sci Fi Channel series, Eureka.

    Trivia (2)

    • When Baltar and D'Anna/Number Three talk about Jupiter, the closed-captioning subtitles refer to Zeus instead.

    • In this episode, two civilian ships, the Adriatic and Carina, are lost in the passage through the star cluster.

    Allusions (1)

    • Traveling through a nebula to the algae planet, the Viper pilots and their sensors are overwhelmed by bright light and radiation. A similar scenario was seen in the pilot of the original 1978 series "Saga of a Star World." The Viper pilots had to clear a path through a minefield amid the blindingly bright starfield known as the Nova of Madagon.
