  • BattleTech is a cartoon loosely based on the BattleTech phenomena. It features Major Adam Stiener and his First Somerset Strikers in their quest to free the Inner Sphere against the invaders of Clan Jade Falcon.

  • Quotes (32)

    • (as the Katana is being attacked) Adam: Time to choose sides, Captain-san. Are you with us or not? (explosion) Fredstat: I am rather partial to surviving…

    • (after the jump to the Hamilton system) Rachel: Ugh… I think I left my stomach behind.

    • (while slapping cuffs on Captain Fredstat) Hawkins: Ohayou, Captain. And please… enjoy your stay in the Federated Commonwealth.

    • (Hawkins is leading a boarding action against a Draconis Combine smuggling ship) Zack Hawkins: Konichi-wa, Kurita creeps!

    • (after Kylie has been slaughtered in a simulator battle) Kiely: Guess I didn't pass, huh Major Stiener? Adam Stiener: How can I pass you if you don't stay alive, Kiely?

    • Nicolai Malthus: You dare to refuse my batchall?! Andrew Steiner: Refuse your what?

    • (After seeing Val's mech piloting) Hawkins: "That was the craziest display of reckless mech jockeying I've ever seen." Adam and Rachel: "That's our man!"

    • (Looking at Tybus's casino) Hawkins: "Tybus…why do the biggest crooks always stick their names on buildings?"

    Notes (5)

    • Correction: that mech I thought was a Stalker is actually a Champion.

    • For fans of the RPG: Check out the mech designs that pop up when the simulator is started. I spotted a Thug, a Crab, and what looked like a Stalker.

    • Given the series' track record in sticking to published material, this episode shows a remarkably faithful adaptation of Victor Steiner-Davion's forced evacuation from Trellwan, covered in the novel "Lethal Heritage," although a few things are notably missing (Victor's frequency switching to feign misunderstanding of the evacuation order, and the conversation between the commander and Victor in the novel was far more heated than the one in the episode).

    • The voice command Franklin uses to bring the command center online (“Rosebud”) is a reference to the movie “Citizen Kane.” The camerawork at that point is another homage to the movie (with the camera showing only Franklin’s mouth as the word is spoken, just like the opening scene of the movie).

    • This is also known as Trial of Possession Part 2. Trial of Possession Part 1 is also known as Homecoming.

    Trivia (21)

    • Contrary to what Rachel says, shooting at a Jumpship is not a violation of the Ares Conventions; it was simply an unwritten rule followed after the First Succession War to keep space travel from becoming impossible for everyone.

    • When Stiener Ejects he says (seemingly to himself) "Whatever you are It's gonna take a lot more than that to conquer summerset" to which Nicholai Answers. Is he on a communication chanel with the clan in the escape pod?

    • The clan mechs have been spending hours in the sun baking? We know that there is only 1 mech unaccounted for during this battle (the one that captured the strikers). What were they doing? Fighting Cero and Kiele? Walking in Circles?

    • Tybus says all he has is a lance of 5 mechs, yet he only sends 3 to the trap.

    • Those ports on the Thor's hips and legs are not lasers. Indeed, in Battletech it's impossible to fit 3 lasers on a mech's leg. Plus, in a later episode, the hip weapons are revealed to be missile launchers.

    • Clan mechs shooting at ostriches? Why? Shouldn't the ostriches stick their heads in the ground?

    • How did Pytor and the Clan get on the Dropship without anyone noticing?

    • When Adam chalenges Nicholai, there is only one red Thor mech. However, there appears to be 2 during the avalanche scene.

  • Fan Reviews (1)
  • With a title like BattleTech you can expect two things Mechs and War. And with BattleTech that's exactly what you get from the beginning. Also for some of the battles the show goes to 3D visualizations which was way ahead of its time at the time.
