    • Jaime: By the way, Sarah Corvus says 'hello'.
Jonas: (to Ruth) Tell Jae we have a candidate.

    • Jae: You know what scares me about you? Your father. He seemed normal too.
Will: If I'm anything like my father, you just made a big mistake.

    • Ruth Treadwell: (as Jaime is escaping the Wolf Creek biotech facility) Letting her go isn't a bad idea. You want her loyalty? Give her freedom... or the illusion of freedom.

    • Jaime: What do you want from me? Jonas: I don't know, maybe you died 3 days ago and you just haven't realized it yet. Jaime: Is that a threat? Jonas: There are no free agents here Miss Sommers. Sooner or later, you're gonna have to make a choice. It goes something like this: heads, you lose; tails, you die. Welcome to the game.

    • Sarah: (lighting up a cigarette) The anthrocytes in our blood can filter out any impurities in our lungs. Fringe benefit of being a freak.

    • Jae: Sarah Corvus is a time bomb. We both know it. Anthony: Well, time bombs only matter to those who have time.

    • Ruth: We're here to talk about our feelings. Jaime: How do you feel about me being kept here against my will? Ruth: I was speaking editorially. Actually, we're here to talk about your feelings. Jaime: Something no one seems to have any regard for. Ruth: Curve balls will do that.

    • Jonas: Jae can you train her? Jae: Um, the last one we screened, tested, and there was psych evaluations, and she was a soldier. Look where that got us. Will: We always talked about non-military applications. Here's our chance. Jae: Your opinion isn't valid here, you're too close to the subject. Will: This from the guy who played house with the last one.

    Trivia (28)

    • It's interesting to note that this series starts with the same mood the original series in which ended. In The Bionic Woman (1976) Jaime Sommers was a proud agent of the OSI until the last episode "On the Run" where she ran away from the organization to have a normal life. In the new series Jaime Sommers does not trust the organization at the beginning and she obeys orders unwillingly; she will trust it as the story evolves.

    • Goof: When Jaime Sommers attempts a first jump from one rooftop to another, you can clearly see that she is wearing high heels, but as she climbs over the parapet wall, you see that her high heels have disappeared.

    • Goof: In the crashing scene we can perfectly see from the camera inside the car that the truck hit the entire side of Will's car. However, in one of the following outside shots, the truck just hits a small portion of it and in a totally different angle.

    • Jaime is reading the Book What Color is your Parachute? when she first meets Pope in the bookstore. It was a parachuting accident in the original Bionic Woman that got Jaime her Bionics in the first place.

    • When Jaime and Ruth walk into the house right before they find the girl, a battle scene from the Battlestar Galactica episode "Exodus, Part 2" is playing. David Eick, who is the Executive Producer of the Bionic Woman, filled the same position on the show Battlestar Galactica.

    • As shown in flashbacks, Sarah's sister died in a car crash remarkably similar to the one that almost killed Jaime, suggesting that Sarah's attack on Will and Jaime in the "Pilot" may have been deliberate copycat attack in revenge.

    • The differences between Jaime and Sarah's bionics shown or referred to in this episode include: Sarah's bionic eye glowing red when in use and the prototypical nature of Sarah's anthrocites. The episode suggests, but stops short of making clear, that Sarah has a bionic ear. She might have therefore lied by omission in the "Pilot" when she failed to mention she had bionic hearing.

    • During the "Pilot" episode Jaime's sister Becca is not allowed to use computers. It seems like an important point, as we're even told that there's a court order stating she can't use computers. But then in this episode Jaime apparently forgot about the court order as she has no problem looking at the family photos Becca has on her computer.

    Allusions (16)

    • Better, Stronger, Faster:
The pilot's trailer describes Jaime as being "Better, Stronger, Faster". This was the catch phrase from the title sequence of The Six Million Dollar Man.

    • Berkut:
Berkut, the name of organization that enhances Jaime, means "golden eagle" in Ukrainian. It's the name of the Ukranian national police's SWAT team special units.

    • Superman:
A little girl looks out her car door while her mother is distracted and tells her about the girl outside running as fast as the speeding car, and is then told not to make up stories. This is reminiscent of Lois Lane as a child in the original Christopher Reeve Superman movie looking out the window of the train and telling her distracted mother there's a boy outside running as fast as the speeding train, and being told not to make up stories.

    • Title: Paradise Lost This is also the name of a very famous poem by John Milton that was published in 1667.

    • Sarah: Mister Ed won't drink, you grab him by the mane force him under, hold him there long enough - he'll swallow.
Sarah is referring to the talking horse named Mister Ed, who starred in a 1960's show called Mister Ed.

    • Nathan: He had you Manchurian Candidated!
The Manchurian Candidate is a novel (1959), which has been adapted into a film twice (in 1962 and in 2004). It is about a son of a prominent political family who has been brainwashed into becoming an unwilling assassin for the Communist Party.

    • Title
The title is a reference to the show The Education of Max Bickford, which is about the college professor named Max Bickford. As an additional relation, Katee Sackhoff (Sarah Corvus) plays Nell Bickford, the daughter of the title character.

    • Bionic Can Opener:
Jaime: So I'm a glorified fax machine?
Nathan: Come on, don't sell yourself short. You can also open cans.
This is a reference to the original Bionic Woman series, where Jaime uses her bionic arm's fingernail for a utilitarian purpose to cut open a can's top. Calling a bionic person "a glorified can opener" is also a common event in similar stories.
